I thought they only had something like 150 cases of failure out of 700,000 tires. Mine are probably included in the recall but I just towed them back from Pa. to Tx. Just checked them over good at all stops. I did lose all four hubcaps though, dang those Interstates are getting rough. Gonna head into Discount this week.

I do not need tires til the first part of September. I think that I will wait. My tire guy said that they already have new commercial t/a`s in the pipeline. He said that maybe he should have them in a couple of weeks.

Not a bad strategy if you have the time to wait.

Anyone see any problems with running 2 different tires on one axle versus the other?

As long as their the same diameter/pressure and have a very similiar tread pattern. I've used a different brand on the same axle on several trailers over the years (RVs and non RVs). The biggest issue would be braking on wet pavement.

Jim, Not sure if I phrased it properly.

What if I have the Commercial T/A's on the front and another type on the rear or vise/versa?

The front were replaced 2-3 months ago because of cracking. The rear were replaced last fall because one has a slipped belt. Would it be better to wait until the same brand/type are available.

Same thing if the tread patterns are simular and the same diameter tire all around you should have no issues.

First off thank you to the folks who originally posted this thread. I am busy and do not pay attention to such things. Your post made me look and we do have 4 tires that need replacement.

In regard to the alternatives I personally would not use the LTX as alternatives. I have a set of 4 on my truck and they work well but I do notice that they 1) grab and chuck a lot of stones and 2) with the siping wear a bit on the edges (hence I rotate them frequently). The existing BFG show a lot of feathering from backing into tight angled spots and our storage yard; I would hate to start chunking the tread due to sipes.

Personally I will just pay the difference for a set of Ribs as alternates if they can not put BFG TAs back on.

Just as I thought, got a call this morning and the BFG's are not in the pipeline yet. They offered coopers I countered with michelin ltx's.They said OK come on down.
I insisted on looking at the tires.Glad I did,the dot date was 4211.I said no way so they looked around and found a set of 4 with 1612 dot date.I got those installed with no charge of course.I did check on michelin xps ribs but they needed a $100 a tire + tax.Tempting but just not in the budget having just bought the BFG's just 2 months ago.Hope these work out,I like thier looks and fit guess time will tell.

Here is the formal notice from BF Goodrich:

The website includes a link to the letter that will be going out to registered owners of the recalled tires.

I have four under the trailer and a spare, purchased in April of last year. Thankfully, no problems with them.

Called my tire dealer today who said they'd just heard about the recall and warned the problem would be getting his hands on replacement tires. A sudden demand for 800,000 tires of two specific sizes will quickly drain the pipeline. Better act quick if you don't want to wait a few months for replacements.

Maybe you need to demand a different brand rather than have to wait and chance having a tire problem. This has been done by other companies that have had recalls.

You can learn more if you visit my tire blog RVTireSafety

In my opinion as a QS9000 and ISO/TS 16949 Quality auditor the word "Quality" does not appear to be in the RV industry dictionary.

From my recent experiance above there seem to be a lot of michelins out there and they are allowing direct replacement with no cost.
