You did dodge the recall but it is for both LT235 and LT245.

Does anyone know what the 120 Q stands for? Mine are the size on the recall but they are 120 R. I will call discount in the AM and see. Here I am in gunnison Colorado and the nearest Discount is 200 Mi. There are other dealers within 50 mi though.

The recal includes 245/75 R16 120Q LRE tires with DOT Codes "BE11JD11" or "BF11JD11".

See: www.bfgoodrichtires.com/voluntarysafetyrecall

for the date codes on the bigger size.

I've been praising these for the last year and a half and now Tire Kingdom is waiting for the Corporate Office to tell us what they will replace with.

According to the link below, the 120 refers to the Load Index (3,100 lbs) and the Q refers to the Speed Rating (100 MPH). The R code is for a Speed Rating of 106 MPH.

I will have to check the Sidewall codes/DOT sequence, but only one of my TA Tires purchased in Sept 11 has a 2511 Build Date per my Tire Age tracking which fits within the 1310-2912 Recall Production period. Maybe I will just buy a new BFG tire and make the "Recall" tire I have the new spare as my spare is an 04 tire...(used once last year).

The recall goes from April 2010 through July 2012. I called my dealer and he said that all the distributors had the same tires so he was not sure where to get me replacements right this minute. The Uniroyal of the same size is also recalled. Both tires are made by Michelin. Dealer told me that he ws not sure if Michelon would give you the Michelin as replacements or just credit your full amout you originally paid towards the Michelin.

When I called my tire shop late Friday about needing 5 tires for the recall the manager asked that I call back Monday morning. I talked with him about 45 minutes ago and was told Michelin authorized the replacement of my BFG Commercial T/A's with Michelin tires at no charge.

He said he had them in stock and could replace my tires today if I brought the trailer in. I'm headed there after lunch and will report back on what tires I get...

EDIT: They swapped out the BFG Commercial T/A for Michelin LTX M/S2. The date codes for the new tires are between 1412 (April) and 2412 (June), which is more than 18 months 'fresher' than my old set.

Bottom line: Better, newer tires for free. What's not to like?

I am amazed that a company would recall them. Maybe there's still hope.

There goes some of the China hysteria. My recalled BFG's were made in Indiana!

pssst, you missed it (did you duck?) I was rooting for the china pops, because of the hysteria.

Well you have never and will never see the makers of the trailer tires do a recall like this. These are tires used on pickups also, so they are watched and regulated at a much higher level. BIG thumbs up to BFG and Uniroyal!

For those using them, this should make you happy that you bought a supported product.
