The shower drain on our Chaparral 355 leaks into the basement.

Luckily, the drain is right above the basement door, so its easy to work on.

I don't understand how its supposed to not leak. The shower floor is flexy. If you step near the drain, it clearly moves. The plastic plumbing underneath is pretty much rigid. How is one supposed to seal a stationary drain fixture to a flexy shower floor ?

Anyone else have this issue ?

We had a leak in our rigid tubing for our shower. DH replaced it with PEX...a flexible tubing. So far, no more leaks.

What size PEX did you use ? The drain plumbing is large diameter plastic pipe.

I was thinking of using some sort of flex pipe, like that from a washing machine drain.

Did you seal it with anything ?

But if the drain is tight to the shower floor and the shower floor flexes, isn't it going to stress the plastic piping ?

I would cut a section out of the rigid drain pipe and install a fernco fitting. This would allow the pipe to flex with shower floor and not stress the piping or tank fitting.

Me2 - We have a 2012 Chaparral FBH model with same issue. Actually broke the rigid drain pipe in half and dumped all the water on the floor in the storage area. The 55 amp converter was partially submerged....lucky we had another 1/2 inch to go before it went zap! Fixed problem with a car radiator rubber hose and 2 clamps, and expanding foam under shower pan. Notified Coachmens warranty guy but nothing was done. Have had several other issues with the unit. Good luck

I shored up the underside of the shower base with 2X material to keep the floor from flexing.

Bingo. That is exactly what I want to do.

How did you get the foam in ? Which foam did you use ?

How were these shower floors supposed to be installed ?

How did you leave the drain trap in AND use the rad hose ? now that I think about it, I bet you left the trap attached to the shower drain and then replaced the long horizontal piece of plastic pipe with the rad hose. How did you get enough clearance to cut it ?

Great fix if that is what you did.

We have too. Its STUPID that such a nice trailer has issues like these. An extra little bit of attention would totally take care of this and a couple other things. Other than the issues, we totally love our trailer.

Does your bedroom slide leak when out ?

Thanks for the reply.
