Weekend project was to get rid of all extra stuff in MH. I carry a shortie sewer hose (that we use most of time) to dump and have full length sewer hose for when we hook up. Also have spare hose or extra hose for longer run to the sewer connection. Never had to use extra hose, but my thinking was someday we'll be somewhere that requires a longer run to the connection, but hasn't happened yet, and taking up space.
Question: How many times have you needed an extra length to make connection?
(Rewarding project; got rid of spices that were 5 years old, Do I really need 6 rolls of garbage bags? Found extra flashlight batteries; now expired, extra jumper cables, 2 voltage meters, found good tire pressure gauge, and forest service map from 1986).

I carry enough sewer hose to reach 40 feet. I've only used all of it three or four times in the past six or seven years, but I was really glad I had it when I needed it. I have a twenty foot section capped and coiled up in my spare tire, and two ten footers that are my normal use hoses that reside in the waste tank bay.

I carry about 10' of hose. If I needed longer I would not dump until I leave a place. Now we are only summer campers and for most location we don't have sewer hookups. The few times we have camped at a private campground I have not had a problem. The 1 extra hose added to your short hose should be plenty.

Having a spare hose only really comes in handy twice...when you need the extra length to reach the sewer dump...and WHEN (not it!) the sewer hose splits when you are dumping yout tanks!
Ask any of us how bad that is! If you need a refresher...watch Robin Williams in the movie RV!

Only necessary if you stay somewhere that the sewer connection is too far to reach with one hose. Dump stations seldom need more than about 10 feet of sewer hose to use them effectively unless you have a galley dump outlet and a sewer dump outlet that is widely separated (mine is that way) and you want to dump without moving the RV in between.

Only when you don't have it with you! That being said, my spare is doing me no-good in my house's basement.

I have 3 ten footers in the white pvc tube CW sells for them under the frabe just behind the dump port. I normaly use one or two, but the campground near Disneyland requires all three.

One that is semi rigid that when collapsed is 4' and can be expanded to 15'. It's my main dump hose.
Two 10' ones that collapse down to 3' that I have used one or both several times over the years.
One 10' that collapses down to 3'....brand new in box.
Three of the hoses plus fittings/adapter/donut etc. all fit in the sewer dump valve compartment which has a expanded metal floor.
The new one in box fits in side compartment above sewer valve compartment.
I also carry one 25' garden hose and two 50' garden hoses for macerator duty.
Plus a 4' potable water hose & two 25' potable water hoses, water pressure regulator, two water filters and a portable water softener.
Use most of it regularly.......some occasionally....all of it at some time or other.

Yes I think I would carry the extra hose in case one breaks. And about every 5 years replace the oldest hose and keep the newer one that is still not leaking.
