Has anyone replaced the brittle Dometic drain tube with another type of tube? I have broken off several pieces of mine while trying to inspect under the refrigerator cover. Now, the tube just barely makes it though the cover. If I break it again, I will have to replace it.
Thanks for any suggestions.

I got some clear plastic tubing and a brass union at a hardware store. Made the join inside the compartment so the original drain tube is still inside and the new tube hangs out. Only downside I've seen over the last few years is the clear tubing shows mildew and dirt.

It is likely brittle all the way to the nipple that it connects to on the back of the fridge.
I would replace the entire piece and be done with it.

I have the exact same problem. That slobber tube is pretty crunchy, and it lose some length when I was adding some screening so I wouldn't find any mud daubers making their homes there. The end cap sucks to lose as that keeps bugs from making their way into the tube and into the fridge.

Maybe the bugs are more of a problem when the RV is sitting unused. I've been fulltiming for 6+ yrs and without the end cap for about 4 yrs - no bug probs in that time.

I used tygone tubing (clear flexible plastic) & replaced the whole thing.
BTW there is supposed to be a small valve thingy on the outlet end mine was missing & still is.

Where did you get this tubing? What size? WHat did you put on the end to keep bugs out?
I have been using a small piece to panty hose on the end of mine. That seems to work OK.

I have the same problem with mine. I have never had any drainage out of the drain hose anyway. I would blow on the end of it & would never get to the drain so it is plugged somewhere. I just went in & gently pulled my drain out of the fridge. Now that I know what I am looking for I went to the outside & pressed on the metal plate on the right side that has a schematic on it. The drain is right above that not very far up, but far enough to make it tough to reach. I have tried to look for it before but was looking in the wrong place. Now that I pulled the drain out of the fridge the tube is not hooked up now and it still feels like it is blocked. I am going to take the drain to Home Depot & find some vinyl tubing that will fit it & try to push it through from the inside of the fridge. Don't know if it will work, but it will be better that what I have now.

I did the exact same thing. GENTLY pull the drain out from the inside of the fridge, put on a new hose, then feed the whole thing back through the hole and out the back
