OK, it's probably not toast immediately, but will it make it through the summer, or is it now a hazard that needs to be replaced post-haste?

The separation at the awning tube is about an inch long, the tear at the seam is about 3/4", and the whipping at the top corners is unwhipped about four inches down on both sides.
Is she toast? Can she be salvaged? Is it worth it? The awning is in otherwise great condition, no tears, no sagging, no holes, no marks. If it needs to be replaced, do I need the whole setup, or can I get by with just replacement fabric?
Thanks, gang!

I would say at best, not a major issue. But as cheap as awning material is, I would replace just the fabric.

I would get some clear awning tape and it will probably last you for a few more years. When it really does need replacing, all you need replace is the fabric itself.

Tape would certainly allow you to get through the season and maybe several more. If the DW is handy with needle and thread you could even replace the edging with some just slightly wider and it would be nearly as good as new.

I second this! Ours was torn on the edge and I used clear awning tape after cleaning it area with alcohol, re-enforced on both sides of the rip. That has been around four camping seasons back.

I don't think it's burnt toast but very close to getting a new awning. I had mine replaced last year. the material was cheap for me and had two guys put it on for me. I had a large tear in mine at one end, put sail tape on it and ran it that way for years. sail tape and awning tape are the same thing.

Thanks for the tips, everyone. I hadn't even thought about taping it as a long term repair. I assume I can pick that up at an RV shop, Camping World, et. al?
Is there a forum-recommended-and-approved source for the replacement awning fabric cut to size? I know I'm going to need one sooner or later...

I'm confused... I never mentioned cheap in my posts... Just trying to learn some stuff before I absolutely have to.
Thanks,
Joe
