I picked huckleberries last week and had huckleberry pancakes yesterday. Nothing better except muffins

What do you make with them?

we usually just make pies and jam with ours. we have a fruit stand here in town that carries jam year round. only thing is the bottles keep getting smaller and the price goes even higher each year.

Mainly - Pancakes, huckleberry syrup/sauce, huckleberry buckle (coffee cake)

Occasionally - Fresh with half & half, pie filling, jam, random experimental desserts.

We went huckleberry picking near the Gifford Pichot I remember keeping my eyes open for bears cause we were in their territory. Came home and made the most beautiful coral color jam, beautiful and tasteless. I don't know what I did wrong.

I can remember when I was a child and we would visit my aunt, uncle and their two boys in PA, Aunt Della would always give us a bowl of huckleberries with cream for breakfast. Pure heaven! Haven't had any in 48 years (or longer).

Can't find any. All of the Family's lands are now owned by Developers or hunting clubs. Use to find tons, of them along the cliffs above the water falls and all around the mtns.

Last year at Priest Lake Idaho we were fortunate to spend a week backed up to huckleberry bushes. Never had a huckleberry before....But picked a gallon that week. Tasty great in pancakes but they are small and not far from the ground
