Hey guys, I need help! Just installed a Floresent Fixture (two tube).
when I flip the switch, one tube lights for a second then goes out, the second tube does nothing. Ideas? Ballest? or have I screwed up the wireing?
My thought is the wireing has to be right or there would be no power to light the first tube even temporarly.

I would try two new bulbs first. Replace both at first, then sort out the bad one.

If that is a new fixture take it back to the store for exchange.

If it isn't new, the problem could be the tubes; replace both so you're starting with all new tubes.

If the fixture is old enough, it may have a 'starter'; replace that also.

The first thing I would do is check the voltage at the light.

New fixture and new bulbs.
taking the bulbs back in the morning to test in their display fixture, crossing fingers that's the problem. Next pull the fixture down, and switch that.
Just frustrating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like the bulbs are not installed properly and making good contact. A lot of 120 volt florescent fixtures must be properly grounded, as well.
