The VIAIR air compressor is supposed to be connected to the rig battery. On my Navion, it's quite a job to get to the battery under the driver-side floor. Can I connect it to the house batteries that are easier to get in the well by the side door? Thanks for any help you can provide.

I would think house batteries would be better than the chassis battery

I bet the VIAIR won't know the difference.

Connect it to any 12V DC battery source......
I got tired of having to remove battery box covers in 5'vr so I ran cables from battery to side of trailer and installed heavy duty receptacles on an 'L' brackets, both sides near tires and then added a heavy duty plug to end of air compressor cable.
Now I just plug and play.........

As long as your house batteries are of the correct voltage, your compressor won't know the difference (as already mentioned).
Some people will use multiple 6v batteries for the house, so make sure.

I wish I could do this, but there's no chance in ....... that I would be capable of doing it.

I would suggest that you hook to your house battery's I would also suggest that you use a set of these. I use them for my Ham Radio and a Bi Pap Machine in my RV. I also have a Viair Compressor that I put a power pole plug on works great.

Hi Sandi,
Are you saying that your chassis (starting) battery is under the floor and not under the hood by the engine? I have never opened the hood of one of the sprinter so I don't really know. I have the VIAIR compressor also and I'm pretty sure (I could be wrong) the instructions state that you should connect to the chassis battery ,then start the engine and let it run while you fill your tires. This is a heavy duty compressor so I'm not sure if an 12 volt adapter plug would work (but you could try). Another suggestion would be to hard wire in some sort of battery cable extensions that you could connect to.

The 12V plug/receptacle I posted is a HD.......I use it with my VAIR for past 3 yrs. connected to 5'vr battery and truck battery. Neither of which as had any problem operating compressor while filling truck/trailer tires (80#--truck & 105# trailer).
