Yes, I know Ford and Chevy diesels do it too, but I live in an area where there are a LOT of diesel pickups (Wyoming), and just lately I've noticed that the smokers I see on the street more often than not have a Ram emblem.

Your not the only one who notices this... I blame this on a poor combustion process and poor engineering.

Or illegal removal of DPFs.

Another news flash! Take the particulate filter off of the new diesels and they will smoke also. Nature of the fuel.

Not necessarily as much.

Higher fuel injection pressures and a finer mist results in less particulates.

I have a 3500 Dodge diesel, and while on a trip across Wyoming the engine began to blow out an excessive amount of black smoke. This helped with mosquitoes, but not much else. When I got home, my Cummins mechanic suggested I try some new injectors. That solved my problem.

More than likely, it's a "souped up" combustion process and poor engineering of deletes and add on's that haven't been engineered to cover EPA specs, but make for a REALLY Fast Truck... Not poor combustion or poor Engineering from the truck manufacturer...it's called "After Market" for a reason..

If it's out this weekend, I'm going to race this guys truck this weekend.

This is a VERY fast truck.

No it is because Cummins is the only one you can add serious power to and get away with it.

The Green Ram in the vid looks like my son's. His truck is a 98 24V 4x4 2500 reg cab built trans 3:55 detroit locker Industrial Injection Dragon flow 160 hp injectors edge drag box stock turbo. Turned 104 mph at 12.78 at spokane, WA raceway. Not bad for 6,500# truck.

Yea it smokes!

I need to invent a new "dump while underway" black and grey water tank valve for driving in front of all these smoking trucks.
