I have campground reservations from Saturday to Saturday at the Cape. My plan is to leave home Friday evening taking I90 east and 495 south. I am looking for a place (rest area etc.)to spend the evening. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Mick

Be careful if you decide to go in the ocean. I read today that someone was killed by a shark over the weekend somewhere in Cape Cod.

We were there last week but we went south on I-195 and stayed at the Sams Club at the first exit in Massachusetts. There's a go cart place next to it so it's a little noisy until they close. Nobody with us got eaten because it was too cold to go in the water!

There was a person bit by a shark, but not killed. He is in the hospital recovering.
As you get closer to the cape, most towns have a no overnight parking ban. The Sam's Club on Route 195 is quite a ways out of the way.
I am sure that there are other places, but this is an option. Take 495 to route 24 north. About 1/4 mile up there is a rest area with food and fuel. Park with the truckers or along the back of the parking lot behind the building. To get back to 495 go north about 1/2 mile to route 104, take a left at lights and get back onto 24 south. In about 1 1/2 take 495 south.
You can also make the loop and park at the mirror image of the northbound rest area on the southbound side.
There is a Cracker Barrel at the Wrentham Village Premium Outlets, One Premium Outlets Boulevard, Wrentham, MA. I do not know if you can overnight there. it is about a 3/4 miles from 495.

There are two rest areas on Rte 495 in the Middleboro area (I believe between exits 4 and 3). They are only about a mile from each other. There's a WALMART in Wareham, just off 495, but I don't think they have room for RV overnighters. There's also a Home Depot right near that Walmart where you might ask permission to stop overnight.
Lastly, there's Scusset Beach State campground right at the Cape Cod Canal, near the Sagamore bridge. Odds of getting in are slim, but for a single night, you may get lucky. Can't beat it at $20 with water and 30A electric. They also have a large parking area just before the CG in the reservation, but I'm thinking you cannot overnight there.

I am currently at Scusset Beach (campground 508-888-0859). You cannot overnight in the Fish Pier parking lot. I believe the office closes at 8 pm.
This brings up another option. Shawmey Crowell State Reservation (Campground 508-888-0351) on 6A just few miles after the Sagamore Bridge. It is very easy to get back onto Rt 6. It is dry camping. I don't know what the rate is, but I do know that it is less than Scusset, which is $20/night. You should call them when you get close and ask if they have a one nighter for whatever length you are.
Don't waste your time trying the visitors centers along the canal.

Albany to Cape Cod? Any particular reason to stop overnight? Mapquest shows this at a tad over 4 hours drive to Brewster (mid-cape) from Albany. We do Rochester to the Cape in a day.
Going to the Cape on a Friday is a zoo, as is leaving on a Sunday. Saturday shouldn't be too bad.
