I have a 2000 model Monaco LaPalma on a Ford chassis, which I purchased new.

When doing a brake job, is it necessary/advisable to have the neoprene hoses going to each wheel assembly replaced? How about the calipers? Even if they have been working perfectly, should they be replaced?
As I said, its a 2000 model, and has 70,000 miles on it, and is unused/stored inside during five months of the Winter.

BTW, the hoses feel solid and look fine externally, but some say they can develop bulges internally, thus restricting the flow of fluid to the calipers, causing them to possibly stick.

Thanks from you "forum experts". I have found your advice invaluable in the past.

Opinions/advice????

Thanks, Mountainviewer

For as cheap as they are, won't hurt to replace them.
Replacement calipers are only as good as the person rebuiliding them.
I've had the one's from Auto Zone lock up on me.

Yes, replace them. They don't need to be replaced everytime brakes are worked on but every I would do it every 60,000 or so.
It is not always pressure going to the calipers, but not flowing back when brakes are released which causes the brakes to drag.

It's worth the $150 to replace the hoses. When my MH had brake lock last year the mechanic said the reason for the brake failure was clapsed hoses. The previous owner put in new brakes, calipers, shoes, master cyclinder, and rotors. The mechanic was dumpfounded that the hoses weren't replaced also. Cost me a ton to have them replaced. Do it.

I'm not a "Forum Expert" since I spend too much time on the road, but why fix something that isn't broken based on information that is read on the internet from unknown people?

With almost 1000 posts a year you spend your fair share of time here.
