Our Magic Chef counter top microwave is only about 6 months old and has gone bad, refuses to heat. It has a one year warranty, but it came from Home depot, so it is hoop jumping time to get it repaired.
Packing it up, sending it somewhere, waiting waiting and then who knows.
Thinking of Sears because they are everywhere and service should be easier, I hope.
So, my question is, how long has or did your last microwave oven last and where did you get it from? Would you recommend sears as apposed to the big Box stores?
Home Depot probably does not carry the warranty, Magic Chef does.
Look in the papers you got with the oven for the warranty, and a list of authorized warranty service centers.
If you don't have the papers, call the Magic Chef customer service number or look online for the Magic Chef website.
If you do not have the purchase receipt, you may not have any warranty. They can be very picky about being able to prove when and where it was purchased!
Good luck.

We have had a Sears brand unit for 5 or more years, and it's still going strong. I have always had good luck with Kenmore appliances.

Unfortunately Magic Chef stuff does not last anymore. My brother found this out. He too bought a microwave with that bran name that only lasted about 6 months. AS for Home Depot, You might, and I mean might, if you have the receipt go back to them and talk to the manager, and have the microwave in the original box. . There is a slim chance you'll get your money back. I'm not promising nothing but, it's worth a try. Kinda depends on the manager himself and how good of mood he is in that day. Other wise your just stuck. Cost more to fix it then it's worth.
I have a SHARP Carousel microwave in my kitchen that's going on about 8 years.
Have you called Home Depot to see if they'll take it back? They may simply take it back and give you a new one. The big box stores are usually pretty good at things like that.

The last one was a Sharp combination µWave oven, toaster over, broiler and electric oven.
I bought it at the Salvation Army Thrift Store for $15, used it for 10 years and gave it away when I bought this trailer. The woman to whom I gave it is still using it.

My first Microwave was a Tappin, I think it lasted a good 20 years if not longer. Eventually I upgraded, was not happy and picked up another Tapping, the "upgrade" model of the same vintage as my original (This one had more heat settings) and that lasted till I dumped the house and went full time in the RV.
The microwave in the RV is a modified Dometic, Originaly made by LG, it never worked properly till I made a few mods, now it works as designed, but it's no longer the original LG design
LG Officially means Lucky Goldstar, but considering the kind of luck I have had with Goldstar (zero percent happy) I call them Lousy Goods.

Went to sears today and got the Kenmore 66339.
One thing I see is that the instructions are much more detailed with many more cooking options. I downloaded the PDF of the instructions and the file is almost 8mb as apposed to 2mb for the old Oven. And heavier too. OOF.
Hopefully we have 10 years of service on this one, thought it might just outlive me.
Have a nice day and thanks for the replies.
