A few tips (I got married more than 5 but less than 10 yrs ago)... you can get the caterer/reception venue to cut costs by cutting some things that the guests will never miss, ie a seafood station during appetizers gone, vienese sweet table on top of having wedding cake gone. Had the wedding in july instead of a really popular month, bingo, another discount. Videotaping of ceremony done by a friend (not great quality but we have watched it twice since our wedding) free of charge, spent extra money saved here on better photographer. Gave our photographer tons of word of mouth business (I lived on theknot.com message forums), they gave us a 3rd photographer wedding day free of charge. There was a book my dad gave me to read early on. I think it was called the everything budget bride book or something like that. I got a lot of these tips here. Good luck.

You still have a little wiggle room .... just don't eat too much at the wedding.

I've always liked the reply to this question given by the late St. Louis Cardinals broadcaster Jack Buck:
"When I meet the Lord, the first thing I'm going to ask him is, 'Why have you been so good to me?'"

Very nice !! Yeh in all seriousness I am sure I would fall on my face at the first sight of the Lord and thank him for everything...but when the tears are wiped from my face I am asking him about the whole man vs. woman thing...

One day a few years ago, I was walking on the beach and found a brass bottle.
I could see it had some writing on it but it was not readable because of the dirt and corrosion, so I tried rubbing the dirt off of it.
While I was rubbing the bottle, out popped a Gini !!!
The Gini told me I could have one wish for freeing him, so I told him I would like a bridge to Hawaii so I could drive my RV to Honolulu.
The Gini proceeded to tell me how difficult that would be with all of impact studies, building permits, etc. which would be required.
He then asked if there was anything else I would want, so I told him I would like to be able to understand women.
The Gini then asked, "Do you want two or four lanes?"

Congratulations on the upcoming wedding, it will be over soon enough.
I have never understood the reason for massively expensive weddings or all the stress of arranging one but each to his or her own. I have attended at least 3 weddings that cost the parents in excess of $150,000.00 and which drove them all insane and one backyard wedding where the bride wore a borrowed gown and guests provided the food, beverages and entertainment. All were lovely, but the backyard wedding was the most enjoyable and caused the least amount of stress.
