When we are not using the oven we turn off the oven's pilot light. Is it ok to leave the oven pilot light lit when the oven is not in use?

We use our oven, a lot, almost every time we go out. But we light the pilot on arrival and turn it off when we hit the road. If we aren't going to bake anything, we don't light it.

When someone tells you to buy the same rig they own, listen, they might be right. When they tell you to buy a different rig then they own, really pay attention, they probably know something you don't.

Not so long ago, there was a pilot light under the stove top for the burners, one for the oven, one for the refrigerator, and one for the water heater.
These days, in most RVs, the oven pilot light is the only one left.
Yes, you can turn it on, and leave it on. If, for some reason, it goes out, the gas flow should stop.

We only light it when we want to use it. Why would you want to leave it on?

The pilot light is there so that you don't have to manually light the oven each time you use it. Whenever we are on a trip I light the pilot the first time I need the oven, then I turn the pilot off after the last time I use the oven. Pilot lights are a convenience meant to be used.

I use tolight the oven each time I wanted to use it. I did not leave the pilot on. I just never could see the reason to leave it on all the time. If I used the oven every day, maybe I would have done different.

Today, I have no choice as I do not have an oven. I miss my oven greatly. I do not like using the convectional oven for baking.

Little or no baking on the road,so do not light. Makes an excellent storage area for bread and cookies.

I think I better go and find the instructions to our stove. I did not not know that you could leave the pilot light on for the stove. I allways need to lay on the floor to light it. We seldom use the oven however. The top burners light with spark lighters.
