I do like the idea of back up power at home. I am going to get the 2000. And I spoke with my mom tonight and she told me she had just sent me $1500 for my birthday as a surprise. A huge one as I usually get $50. My dad passed away in May and she helped my brother replace a slider door in his home as an early birthday present so wanted to give me the same. So generous. And bonus, now I may be able to get the ipad I want

while the honda 2000 is wonderful, and we have two, if I was buying again, I'd seriously look at the blue ones (Yamaha) they now have some very fine generators as well. when we got our first one Yamaha didn't have much to choose from. Now they do.
and seriously, I'd stay away from the honda/etc 1000. Really aren't that much less than the 2000 and in most cases won't run a microwave, and also won't be able to handle some common battery chargers.

We bought a eu3000is last fall. It doubles as our RV generator (will power the AC, which we also rarely use) and as our home emergency generator. We had to use it last winter during the ice storms that took out our power for three days. Very happy to have it. I set it on the back deck, so I didn't have to run a mile of extension cords and could barely tell it was there.
I think an eu2000 would be a great alternative if I didn't want it to run the AC on the TT. The eu3000is is a beast to lift. The 2000 is much more manageable and portable.
Best luck on your decision.

We used to boat-camp a lot and bought the 1000 for morning coffee, emergencies, and anything else that may have come up. It was light weight and small, fitting into a space in the cuddy very easily. We used it that first weekend and on the Monday after exchanged it for the 2000. I don't remember exactly why except it probably had problems running our 900W coffee maker. We are very happy with the 2000 now. We used it at home a few weeks ago when we lost power for four days and it was a godsend.

When charging batterys with the 2000 will it still work on eco mode? I like the quietness of unit on eco mode, but was wondering if it still charges as good as full mode.

If you're using the trailer converter or external battery charger, no problem w/ eco mode. Mine just putts along.
Should you use the 12v charging plug right off the generator, it has to run full throttle to get 8 amps (a very inefficient way to use it.)

Our rig has a built in Onan/Cummins 4000, I bought the EU2000 as it is much quieter and handled 90% of our actual use. I do start the Onan when we run our AC or if I just need a few minutes of microwave, etc. JH

Note, if you can find it there are two Honda 2000s. the straight EU-2000i and the EU-200i Companion.. What's the difference?
The EU-2000i has a 12 volt out put that is all but useless and a single 15/20 amp DUPLEX type outlet (2 outlets)
The companion has a single 15/20 outelt (takes just one plug, not two) and a 30 amp twist lock no 12 volt.
Both work by themselves, Should you ever get a 2nmd EU-2000i and a parallel kit, the Companion will feed the full 30 amps into the trailer.
Nothin adds excitment like something that is none of your business

Yes.
Same here. We run it on eco-mode to recharge.
