Parents and ten brothers and sisters packed into a station wagon along with camping gear, kitchen and food to rent a cabin in the Lake of the Ozarks, our yearly family vacation. I'm guessing 1966. We stopped to use the restroom at the gas station. Amidst the chaos of counting and packing people into the car, we left number 4 behind and discovered it when my mom asked where Larry was. My dad pulled over to make sure there was no joking was going on and we turned around and headed back. There he was, waiting patiently. I think that was the same year one of my sisters got an ear piercing for free with a flying fish hook!

I can truly appreciate rving now with just the two of us.

As mentioned above, the Rotary Club does access fines for a variety of reasons.

A friend of mine is a surgeon in Las Vegas, as well as a Rotary member. While dining out one evening with his family, a well known and much despised individual started to choke on his dinner.

Being a good citizen and doctor, he did the Heimlich maneuver on this individual and saved his life.

For his good deed of saving this person which no one liked, he was fined $5000.00, and yes, he paid the fine.

Back in my other life when I was in law enforcement I can recall at least two times when guys would leave their wives at a major interchange in our county. Usually, the wife would be sleeping when they stopped for gas. She would wake up and go to the restroom. The husband, not realizing she had got out of the motorhome, would finish gassing up and drive off. Both times I can remember the wives having good attitudes about it and seeing the humorous aspect of it. They would usually wait in a nearby all night coffee shop untill we located the husband.

Many years ago we left Tom one of our eight children at a rest area on I-95.
We stopped for the " I need to go break" and all the kids piled out and headed to the rest rooms. Tommy who was an ardent reader for his young age grabbed his book and headed to a empty picnic table.
One by one they returned and we took off. About ten minutes down the road; Cathy, the oldest asked where Tommy was. Needless to say we made a U turn at the next exit an headed back.
When we finally got back to the rest area, he was still sitting reading, and had never even realized that we had left him.

they are all adults now, and I think that incident is brought up a least once a year at a family get together.

my parents threw the 3 of us out of the car on a trip to Canada a long time ago. It scared us. we were better on the trip (for a bit )

that story brought back that memory and I am cracking up thinking about it now.
