2006 Gulfstream SunVoyager 6.1 vortec gas engine.Allison transmission,28k miles.
90-100miles into our trips, when going up an incline or over an overpass, the coach surges or feels like the engine is missing/skipping. Only does this , as stated, when well into our trip or going over an overpass/climbing.
Engine has been tuned and dealer cannot duplicate problem. Any suggestions????
Three things come to mind; a partially plugged fuel filter, a "gas lock" in your fuel line (caused by the fuel line getting too hot and boiling the gas), or a vaccum in your gas tank caused by a plugged air vent or a failed emmission control system that is supposed to suck the fumes out of the tank. To check for that possibility, just open the fuel cap and listen for a sucking noise. To check for a fuel line getting too hot, look for a place where the line touches the engine block, or insulate the line.
There are a number of other possibilities but those are the easist to check.
Holiday Rambler Navigator DP, Hummer, and Honda VT1100C Shadow
Check for problems with the 2006 model engine in your RV. This is a Chevy engine problem and not Sun Voyager RV problem. Lots more information on manufacturer specific forums or go see a Chevy dealer or phone the GM 800# for customer car and ask about service bulletins issued for this problem for the 2006 Chevy engines.
It is quite possible too that the Sun Voyager manufacturer routed the fuel line too close to the engine and it is getting too hot. Rerouting the fuel line in the engine compartment and or adding heat shielding may also fix the problem.
