Can any harm come from allowing a grey water tank fill completely? I'm curious to know how much more I can let drain into grey water tank after the red full light comes on... If I let the tank fill until water stands in the shower (the lowest drain), will water leak out anywhere else?

Most of us have malfunctioning level indicators. When the water reaches the shower basin or enters the sink (we have two greys), those are our signals that is time to release the valve.

No, but it may stink when it rises into the shower pan.

Depends on what method was used to install/seal vent line.....some are glued fittings, some are slip fit seals.

Is your underbelly enclosed?
If it leaks out vent line where it goes into tank then you will have grey water inside underbelly and any insulation present.

Buy one of the blue tanks and partically dump your gray water. Letting it back-up in the shower is not a good idea

I was curious exactly how much my black tank held and recently measured and dumped water in it. When the full light came on I had 29 gals in it. Got a total of just over 40 when I could see it in the pipe of toilet.

There SHOULD be no leak but there are dozens of posts on this forum of people who find that their connection between tub and gray water waste tank is not a good one and they FIND it leaks when over filled. Just use some caution when it gets that full. After using the trailer for la while you will get a "feel for it" and based on your own use you'll KNOW when the tank is full or GETTING full.

I leave my grey water dump valve open all the time while hooked up. Occasionally I'll let it fill about halfway and then dump to clear out any solids that may have accumulated (I use a screen in my kitchen sink to catch most solids).

Some years ago I forgot the grey dump valve was closed and didn't check things until I saw liquid flowing from the underbelly. After that incident I never let my two grey water holding tanks get anywhere near full. One exception is the third holding tank (black water) which I allow to fill more than halfway in order to facilitate dumping solid waste more efficiently.

I wouldn't say its the best practice but if it happens every so often it shouldn't harm anything. Usually the tank will over flow to the shower or the sink. You'll know because it will stink unless you never cook in your rv.
