So while I was doing some misc work on the 5er today I crawled under it to take some pictures of the axle tags so I would have record of them. While I was under there I noticed the curb side axles look a little strange, is this normal for them? 5er is sitting level left to right and within a half bubble front to back.

Any thoughts\opinions appreciated.

I'll ask one more question in this thread since it is somewhat related...

In the picture below, it appears I could change the bolt holes that the spring hangers and EquaFlex are using (move them down to where the red arrows are) and "lift" the 5er an inch or two. Is my thinking correct there?

I would guess that from your first post, the ground is not level front to rear and I don't see anything that seems wrong. The answer to your second question is yes, one of our previous 5ers had this setup also for raising the height.

Yes you can move the springs to the lower hole and lift trailer.

As for the equalflex......did you back 5'vr in at an angle? Move 5'vr back or forward in straight line and it will balance out.
Looks normal....

I agree with both.

Thanks for the replies fellas, good to know I can lift it a little with those. I will have to put that on my list of stuff to do.
As long as there is nothing to worry about with the EquaFlex I'll leave it like it is.

Thanks again for the info.

My first thought did you have to turn any parking the trailer as that twist the axles all kind of ways. Yes that should give you 1" of lift.

Yes moving to the other bolt hole will give you about 1 inch lift. If you store in a shop building make sure this will not cause a problem with clearance.
The fact you ask about lifting I assume you are not level towing.

As for the equalizer two things come to mind.

1. A broken spring.
2. A brake that is locking or grabbing.

Next time you are in a large level parking lot such as a supermarket disconnect your 7 way. Then tow straight for several hundred feet and come to an easy slow stop. If the equalizer looks OK then do the next check for brakes. If it is not OK then look for a spring problem with the assumption the trailer is level.
If all was OK connect the 7 way then tow straight for several hundred feet and brake fairly hard to a complete stop. Be sure to hold brakes all the way to a complete stop. If the equalizer looks like in your original posting picture I would bet you have a brake that is grabbing due to adjustment or possibly grease contaminated.

If you do move to the lower hole you may want to consider doing what I did. I machined a piece of 1/2 water pipe to the length that it fits snug in the spring hanger. I added a 1/2 inch bolt through the upper holes with the water pipe as a spacer. This will help stiffen the spring hanger.

I'm level towing now, was just wondering more than anything if that's what it was for.
Next time we take it out I'll try the stopping thing without the trailer brakes to see what happens. Hopefully we won't run into any issues and this is just from turning a little to get into my storage space.
