When you buy the sunpass for the first time for about $25 does that $25 go for tolls or is that just for the box?

Just the box, but if you choose to buy the sun pass mini ti is only $4.99 but not transferable between vehicles. They used to give $5 in toll money when the mini was activated not sure of they still do.

Yes, get a Sunpass mini.

Yep, actually drove to all of these places---in the last eight years. Missed Rhode Island and New Jersey.

Getting a Sunpass will make life easy. If you don't have one you will wait in line. The new toll system only accepts Sunpass and do not accept cash. The system takes a picture of your tag and mails the owner a bill. If that bill gets lost in the mail you will be fined and may loose your driver's license.

They haven't been going after out of state vehicles if they don't pay.
With the picture taking and then mailing the bill.
They have no way to take out of state driver license from anyone.
They can to anyone with Florida driver license.

Got to agree with those that say get the mini. We are from Missouri and bought a mini about 4 years ago (at that time they put the cost of the mini into your account as credit making it free). About a week or two before each trip, I use their online toll calculator to get the cost, use my credit card to put money into my SunPass acount (make sure I have the cost and maybe a $5.00 buffer) and that is it. At the end of each trip, I get onlline again to see if my "guestimate" on cost was good and repeat the next trip. If you find you need more during the trip (unplanned toll road travel), just get online and put more into your account.

I just closed my account as I don't live there anymore. There used to be a discount for this I believe they ahve done away with that. You can set an account minimum if you want and it will automatically recharge your account to whatever amount you want. The money you put down goes on the card, if you buy the mini-pass thats around $5, if you buy the one that can move between cars unless you switch cars constantly such as rental cars, then it's not worth it, just buy a few mini-passes and be done with it. Where the pass comes in handy is the High Speed tolls to the South down near Ft Lauderdale and Miami, though in the last few years they have fixed up I-95 pretty good and when they go parralell to each other around the Okeechobee exit I recommend saving your money(though the turnpike island gas stations are nice). Also some airports like West Palm use the sunpass for parking if you have to fly out for any reason.

I have the sun Pass mini for my car at home now. I was thinking of getting the $25 one for the mh but didn't know if it would work pulling the toad. Another thought to get another sun Pass nini for the MH if it will alow me to pull the toad.
