Oasis Bob,
Take apart the wiring connectors from truck to the trailer, both on the TV and the trailer, remove and clean the wires and reconnect. Don't know how many times this has fixed this problem for folks. The one on the trailer is most susceptible to laying in the mud or getting wet, the + pin from the battery on the trailer then causes electrolisis, corroding connections.

Thank you for this suggestion. I will try it. Can not figure how a drum could warp as they have an easy life far as I know. Though all things are possible. I replaced front axle and brake asembly with brand new last spring due to slightly bent axle. Very perplexing. Thanks again

I will add my opinion that the overwhelming probability is that you have a mechanical problem rather than an electric or electronic one. You may think your trailer brakes have an easy life but you really don't know. As someone already pointed out, you had a defective controller that may have produced heat damage that took a while to show up.

When you travel, even when the TT was new to you, did you adjust the controler so that you could feel the brakes come on as you were rolling down the road.
If you felt those TT brakes working, even with touching the brake petal just enough to make the brake lights work, those TT brakes are working & they have had a hard life.
From day one the first time used, just the design of those brakes, they are on self destruct mode from that day forward.

Look at your new front axle. The initial controller problem turned up in the spring and the front axle was replaced last spring. I see a direct correlation. Does any one else?

The new axle install I dad was fifteen month's back and problem is recent. I just need to pull the drums and have a look.
