We are considering buying a used Weekend Warrior FS3400. We would be pulling with a 99 Dodge Cummins Short bed 4x4 crew cab. Reason we would like such a long bumper tow is we have 2 Rzr's. 1 RZR 900xp and 1 RZR 800xp and a RZR 170 that will go in the back of the truck so we need a bumper pull Toyhauler. My big concerns with a trailer of this length are:

1. Turn Radius. We do mostly dry camping and I am not sure how easy this is going to be on windy mountain roads with switchbacks etc.

2. Ground Clearance. We dry camp 90% of the time and would have to worry about dragging sewer lines etc. because of the overhangs.

Hey Dave. Long time no see. Sounds like an interesting setup.

What year is the Warrior?

And is the Dodge at 3500?

That's a lot of trailer. How much does it weigh?

Have you ever had a bumper pull before? That's a really long trailer. Will the seller let you pull it on the highway to see how it feels behind your truck? It might be kind of squirrely behind a short bed pickup.

It's good to hear from you.

Tell everyone HELLO from the Edmistons!

Hey hows it going. Long time no hear for sure. Yes this is a long setup. I didn't really think about it but I guess we could also get a 5ver and double tow with it. I do have a commercial class A. That might actually be a better way as long as we can fit 2 Rzr's in the 5ver. No the truck is a 3/4 ton. It's not gonna be as good as my Kenworth T2000 was but you gotta deal with what ya got. Take care. I told my wife and kids hi from ya. Do the same to your family for me. Take care..

I tow a 35ft TT with a 2011 F250 short box with WD and friction sway control. Tows flat and straight with no problems or sway.

Just got back from a month trip to CO towing our 33'11" TT with our 2008 Dodge 2500 CTD. The combo did great. I don't know about the weight or ground clearance of the toy hauler you are considering, so I'll only address the turn radius issue you asked about. You really have to turn wide in tight places (fueling and campgrounds), because the trailer tracks a couple of feet inside of your tow vehicle. I had an minor issue with this in one older state park campground. You really have to choose your refueling spots carefully because to the length. Hope this helps.

The FS3400 closer to 37' with the tongue. That is alot of trailer back there. Get a good hitch with built in sway control.

More than a LITTLE experience towing our 34 footer (80,000 towing miles) MOSTLY with one of my F 150s and we dry camp about 75% of the time.

Whether the turn radius is adequate for your needs will depend more on the tow vehicle than the trailer. If the truck can make a corner, the trailer will follow but will shorten the inside track (like all trailers do). I towed my trailer with both a Crew Cab F 250 and my F 150 Regular cab and could EASILY make the turn into my own driveway with the F 150 but it was next to impossible with the F 250 and it's poor turning radius. Not likely you'll have a problem with switch backs unless you are required to back and fill when NOT towing the trailer.

2. Ground Clearance. We dry camp 90% of the time and would have to worry about dragging sewer lines etc. because of the overhangs.
Ground clearance is a genuine concern. Long overhangs will tend to easily drag on very uneven terrain even if the trailer is built on top of the axles (as opposed to having wheel wells above the floor). Look for a trailer with the sewer and entry steps located near the axles and they should be safe. The further from the axles the more endangered they will be. I've replaced my rear steps twice from dragging in off road situations. Of course your frame, rear bumper and most of all, your stab jacks may still be endangered in very rough going. Learn to think ahead and predict where you could have a problem.

Is everyone keeping in mind that the OP is hauling a toyhauler, not a much lighter travel trailer? Even though this is the "toyhauler" forum, we do get traffic and responses from non-toyhauler owners who don't always realize the difference...

Is the hitch weight of the TH + the RZR in the truck bed going to be within the truck's specs?

When you say switchbacks, are you talking 2-lane highway switchbacks, or rural road off the beaten path switchbacks? Because I have definitely seen rural switchbacks that cannot accomodate a trailer of that size.... And it's not just switchbacks - any sharp turn without room to "cut the corner" will be an issue. Trees can be your enemy... You probably wouldn't have a problem in a privately owned campground, or even in most state/COE campgrounds, but boondocking on a back road may be another story.
