Just installed 4 new rear tires on my '05 Dodge 3500 Dually and now have a issue with the rear of the truck wanting to swerve or the feeling sensation like jello moving when changing lanes, very uneasy feeling. The issue begins around 40-50 mph and it doesn't matter if it's loaded or unloaded the feeling is the same. Truck came with General AmeriTrac's and I originally replaced with BF Goodrich's when the feeling began then I immediatly replaced with Ameritrac's and the the same feeling persisted. Took the vehicle to the dealer to make sure no issues with sway bar or links and everything is perfect, only 37,000 on truck. I hope it's just the tires need to to seat in and will get better as they wear. Anyone else experience this issue when replacing tires especially on dually's. Thanks in advance for the help.

New tires with deep tread and soft new rubber often feels a little squirmy. Give it a few miles and it will more than likely be just as steady as in the past. It is not an uncommon issue.

If there was a big change with the tire change........it would seem to be tire-centric....

Did you put the same ply tire on as a replacement? It sounds as if the tires are flexing....I once went from 6ply LT tires to 4ply passenger tires on a half-ton, and I noticed the rear end was a little squirrley when lane changing..

Check all the tire pressures. One soft Dually can cause that. I know, they are new but you never know.

I run mine at 70 lbs. cold and get very good wear.

Yep,they need a few heat cycles to break in and they'll be fine.

Agree with all this. New tires are often a bit squirmy when new. As long as you stayed with load range E tires, you'll be fine.

X2 when I put a set of Cooper's on my truck it felt like I was driving on jelly. Went back had them put BFG tires back on on and had no flex at all. The same held true for my Michelin's. BTW the Cooper's were set to 80psi and it didn't make a difference.

I'm pretty sure the feeling will subside as the tires wear and gain more of a footprint with the road. I always keep at 70 psi and they are 10 ply tires so flexing shouldn't be an issue being they are the same tires that come from the factory and been on the truck from day one. I didn't buy the truck new so the tires already had 20,000 when I got the truck. Just never felt this sensation before, get's your attention when pulling 18,000 lbs. and you start changing lanes. Thanks for everyone's input.

Give it time. I swaped out mine for same brand and style and couldn't believe how different they felt. Longer Lugs? New Softer? Don't know why but it went away. Actually forgot about it untill I saw this post.
