Follow-up Report from OP

Got the switch off and sure enough it must have gotten very HOT! Kinda scary - who would have thought a battery disconnect switch could almost burn your rig down! Here are some pix.

    Bad design. Too small a switch. Your new switch will eliminate the problem. Your old one was like putting a 175X13" tire on an F-350

    Another OP Update

    On further thought, I agreed the original switch was just not heavy enough, even though I had already ordered an exact replacement. I found a heavier one here:

    Here are a couple of pictures contrasting the two switches - the larger one is MUCH heavier.

    What is the amp rating of each? What is the combined fuse rating?
