Hey all... sorry if i'm not posting this in the right area, but wanted to share an experience with you all..

I needed to replace some parts on my RV and I could only find these parts in 2 places. Being that Rvparts.com was a little cheaper, I opted to go with them.

I placed the order and the next day I emailed them to see if i could get a tracking number or to see if they hadn't shipped it, when they would be shipping it. I didn't get a response from the email, so I called them. They answered.. I was told they would call me back in 5 minutes.. seemed really nice. An hour later, they still hadn't returned the call. I attempted to call back, but they were already closed.

At this point, I'm getting nervous. Before I ordered, I did try to do some research on the company to no real avail. the only thing i could find was their ebay presence. Then I went to my bank and started looking at my account... uho.. there are 2 charges here.. one for the amount that I agreed to, and another for about 1/2 of that.. they were just authorizations at this point.. but still makes me a little nervous.

I called back today and apparently they aren't taking calls.. keeps going directly to voice mail.. also sent them another email as well as leaving them another voice mail basically pleading with them to return my call..

still not comfortable, I went back to my bank.. a 3rd authorization now on the card, this one for the original amount again..

This is where I am at right now. I have no idea how this will play out, but I thought i'd share my concerns here and see if anyone else has had good or bad experiences.. Maybe their customer service just sucks really bad.... i'm hoping so.. but those additional charge authorizations are starting to make me a bit nervous. I'm over $60 in authorizations for $12 worth of parts..

Notify your bank/credit union to put a stop pay on all the transactions, if possible.

I did try that, but they said that there was nothing they could do until the transactions went from "pending" to "paid".. tell me that isn't a crock.... so they can just continue charging my card up and there's no way to block it? crazy..

I have never tried that website/company.

But what may explain your charges is by using a credit card transaction without signature there is often a hold charge placed on your account.

This hold charge is often equal to the purchase price including tax or shipping.

The hold charge often will clear within 7 days of the initial purchase.

Gas stations are notorious for adding hold charges to your CC when swiping your card at the pump.

Best bet is to keep attempting to contact the place you ordered from and see if you can cancel your order.

Then find a more reputable place to buy from (which may not be the cheapest).

Should have used PayPal on eBay orders.

I never use debit cards for any on line purchases. You don't have a lot of rights with the debit card. Use a credit card and you can always dispute the charge. You have many more options with the credit card and it's much easier to close the credit card and open a new one than it is to close and open a checking account.

If they are a legit company it will all come out in the end. I did quit dealing with a few companies for this same reason though. Think about the money tied up if you bought $400.00 worth of parts! For some reason they put a "hold" on the money and then when your items ship they process an actual charge and then the hold drops off but for a few days your out double your money. I had this happen to me once with Jeg's performance and the original amount was $1300.00 and it ended up being "held" and charged the same day to the tune of $2600.00 and I had checks bouncing everywhere!! Jeg's paid all of my bank fees with those bounced checks but it was a huge mess.

PayPal doesn't help either....I bought a item, that didn't match the picture when I received it....PayPal did nothing! About like buying from your brother-in-law, at least I can punch him in the mouth for lying to me!

well... all and all.. I'd never deal with them again, but stuff did work out ok.. their customer service just sucks.. after a total of 15 phone calls (only the 1 being answered but never returned) and 10 emails... I never did get any answers.. (yes.. you can say I'm a persistant PIA)

I got one response to my emails telling me that they didn't have the product in stock.. I told them to cancel the order.. stopped at a local RV shop while on business travel and picked up the parts that I needed.

2 days later, the product arrived (I refused shipment) and only one charge has shown up on my Credit card...

so while everything did work out ok, their lack of customer support scares me. Had I had an issue, I'd have just been hosed..

Glad things worked out.

That is just one of many reasons as to why I don't make a habit of buying items from ebay.

To me ebay is a source for old obsolete and no longer manufactured items. I refuse to buy anything new or anything that can be bought through regular mail order or even sticks and bricks. Even if those sources are a bit more expensive, the extra cost of dealing REAL business is often worth it especially if you need customer service help.

Chalk it up as lesson learned.
