We are very interested in a 2008 Pleasure-Way Lexor RL4 that we'll be looking at tomorrow afternoon. The rig comes with a warranty and is in like new condition. We've previously owned a tent trailer, two travel trailers and a small fiver, so we already love the RV lifestyle. But a B will be totally new and unknown territory for us.

One thing we are a little hesitant about is the bathroom. We we're originally watching for a wide body with a bathroom that does not have to be assembled. This one is not a wide body (it's only drawback, really).

What should we be concerned about when switching to a B? What kind of questions should we ask when we inspect this vehicle? How hard is the shower to assemble and how efficient is it?

Any advice, comments, concerns, complaints, thoughts, etc. are welcome. This is a pretty big purchase for us and we want to do it right. Thanks in advance.

While I do not own a Pleasure-Way, they have an outstanding reputation.

Personally, I would have a private mechanic check out the chassis for any possible mechanical problems that may not be readily apparent.

As you have owned RV's in the past, you are probably quite familiar with the various RV systems, and can most likely check these yourselves.

I had to look for a year before I found my lightly used and pristine B, and was unwilling to pay above the NADA value for the unit. Check NADA free online.

Personally, I do not find the shower arrangement inconvenient, and after a few practice runs, you will have it down to a science.

The best thing about a B is the flexibility to go where other RV's can not.

I wish you the best of luck and please post a picture if you purchase the unit.

"What should we be concerned about when switching to a B?"

Hi SwanInWA"

Considering that quote above plus other things you said in your post at 'this point', I suggest you consider NOT buying any B until you seriously consider everything involved. How else can this occur 'this' weekend:

"This is a pretty big purchase for us and we want to do it right."

Wishing you the best with your analysis of all the trade-offs (advantages and disadvantages) of not only downsizing, but which B too if you decide to downside.

You'll have responses, and you also can do a search about downsizing if you have not done so. There have been many posts concerning this or that B vs another one.

Have fun learning and shopping.

Hi

No matter what you buy : A, B, C, Trailer or any other, there are inconveniences to any of them.

You should rather look at what kind of camping you do.
Do you travel or stay in the same place for the season.

If you travel , a B is the ideal vehicule with its inconveniences.
If you stay in the same place, choose any other kind of camper with any inconvenience they have.

A camper is meant to help you accomplish whatever desire you have.

The decision is yours.

If you downsize your expectations to a B, there is no problem.

Do not expect 30 gallon grey and 30 gallon black tanks and 60 gallons of water.

Do not expect to cook a six course 40lb turkey dinner.

Do expect to smile at the freedom of going where other RVs cant.

Thank you so much for the replies. I didn't mean to make it sound like we were jumping in blindly here, lol. We've been doing tons of research and have looked at more than a dozen different Bs so far (not to mention dozens and DOZENS online). But this particular rig is really calling out to us. I've been exchanging photos and emails with the owner all day today and tomorrow we're traveling 2 hours to see it in person. It just might be "the one" so I want to be prepared.

I wondered what an experienced B'er might come up with that first timers wouldn't not think of. Good points and bad ones. Things to look for, or to ask the owner. We especially wonder about the bathroom and shower because we've never dealt with this kind of assembly. We'd been looking at wide body vans because they have "regular" bathrooms, but we love this rig in EVERY other way and wonder if we're making too big a deal about the facilities. Would love to hear opinions on this.

We've been RVing for 20 years and are so excited to begin this new phase. Thanks again for your thoughts and comments.

Well then .... See if you can live with the space that's offered.

That's the most important thing .

Hello again,

Wow, no idea you had done what you've done already and your experience RVing.

Some of it comes down to your application with a B.

I have an isle shower only. Some can choose the cramped B enclosed place to bath, or the isle shower it also came with. If that is the case you can choose then. I developed a system to use the isle with little effort, love it. Would not hesitate to choose the same, NOT a deciding factor with me.

I've encouraged folks at times to write down the advantages/disadvantages of option A vs B (different B's). It can assist in the decision making process. Sometimes it is very difficult to know what is important to you with your 'first' RV. Not you situation, just what about this B vs that B.
