We never unload on trips - we tend not to stay at one campsite for more than 2 nights (often 1 night), our truck and camper are small enough that it isn't too much of a problem visiting places with the camper loaded, and we have manual jacks which are also only attached at the top so aren't as stable as modern jacks.

Not ever. For me there is no need. Besides, I don't carry the jacks with me. They stay at home. Just one more thing to fail, or to try to see around in the side view mirrors, or get knocked off when off road. I don't need no stinkin' ourtriggers. I see my rig in this regard as more of a class C, where the living box is just attached to the chassis. Here she is, sleek as ever;
I leave the jacks off. I am, remember, the self-proclaimed King-of-the-jacks-off.

We haven't yet. We like having our bathroom and refrigerator with us on excursions. That's one reason we got a small one, though. It's not a problem to lug it around.
I on and off-load constantly. But, I'm in a far different situation.
Originally, I bought a TC for extended business travel (35+k mi/yr) in the east. For various and sundry reasons, 2 1/2 yrs. ago, I went full time for the remainder of my working career. Although I still travel the S.E. and move often, I'm making far fewer winter excursions today into the north where the campgrounds are closed. I'm practicing for retirement.... I've stayed with the TC due to the mobility and versatility. It's been a good match. However, next summer will see a change in needs and campers.
I've had one issue with a rear Atwood jack. It stopped working with the camper off-loaded. Neither Atwood or RV dealers had one in stock. Lance was very responsive and sent one across country... took a week to arrive and was easy to change out. Aside from the additional $450 expense, the forced vacation was wonderful.
We unload every time. We need the truck free so that we can maneuver the boat in and out of the water. It's so convenient to have the truck free for other uses and not have to break camp.

Since we put the camper on the flat bed in 2006, once to get truck in dealership door for some waranty work, other than that maybe once every two years at home to do some work on it, "never while traveling". We tow an old bronco (in signature) for running around.
