Just found out 1 week after I purchsed my new 2012 Montana 3700rl that there is a design flaw with the kitchen layout. The microwave above the stove is not installed high enough for the stove cover to open properly without hitting the microwave. The result is that you have to manipulate the stove top cover (push it down) to get it to open and the cover gets scraped up.

Montana told me that it was a design flaw they could not correct. Their answer was to completely remove the lid. That's a pretty crappy answer to me after spending so much for a new camper.

Has anyone else dealt with this issue?

Are you a member of the Montana Owners Club forum? If not, go over there and sign up and ask your question. Lots of Montana knowledge there and members with names/numbers of Montana/Keystone people who may be better able to help.

I guess if that's the only problem you experience, count yourself lucky! I have to manipulate my cover to fold it open. Never dreamed it was a design flaw. Thought that's why it was hinged! I have not scraped mine yet. If it bothers you that much, take it back and get your money back! Good luck!

The 13 models do not have that cover.

Mine is hinged in the middle and does the same thing, won't flip up unless is folded to clear the microwave. We have a Coachman so its not just your brand.

My 2012 3700RL has a hinged cover and after 6 months of continuous use it has never contacted the microwave. This is the same kitchen layout (refer and stove top in the street-side slide out) used by the 3100, 3400, 3402, 3455, 3625, and 3800 models in 2012 and previous years. There were a lot of those models sold and this is the first complaint I have ever heard of.

Ours is hinged in the middle and doesn't come near the microwave. Is your cover hinged?

They replaced that hinged cover with two solid covers of the same material as the counter tops. It just looks neater.
Our 06 3400 had the hinged stove top and we never noticed a problem..

All the images I could find on a quick Google search show a hinged cover. If it's hitting the MW in the =folded= position, then that's a definite problem. Sounds like the overhead cabinet is slightly too tall, which drops the MW. I agree, "remove the cover" is a really crappy answer for something that's so obvious a FUBAR on their part.

Still Trucking is ignoring his own thread? I hope he is ok, I know his frustration must be taking its toll. It's hard for me cause my only serious problem, was a slide that came out of alignment causing several thousand dollars in damage to RV, causing me nearly a month 1/2 of no use. I know, I am sorry, how do I even make that comparison?
