One of my favorite stations changed its format...went from classic rock & oldies to a lousy top 40 station. Also lost my favotite show: Barry Scott's Lost 45's! Blarg.

I dunno, the kielbasa queen back when he was on cable was interesting.

That's not as bad as what happened to my favorite station. One morning, it went from classic rock to country. That was quite a shock that morning.

The funny thing was, later that year, on April ONE, the only other rock station announced that it too would go country. Now the second hint (other than the date) was the song list. It was either country versions of rock songs, or songs like "take this job and shove it!". It was actually entertaining. The problem was, TOO many folks didn't get the joke. Their radio station was almost firebombed.

Next year on April ONE, that same station went "easy listening". They found a whole day's worth of "musak" versions of rock songs. That was also entertaining.

As for morning "talk shows", I don't listen to them, other than NPR news.

Humor isn't funny anymore.
It's all based on sexual innuendo, profanity and bodily functions.

Henny Youngman never used profanity in his routines. When asked why he replied, "If a joke isn't funny without profanity it won't be funny with it."

Evidently these new young comedians and "personalities" think profanity is funny all by itself.
They would be wrong. I ignore them all.

Why do people pay to go up tall buildings and then put money in binoculars to look at things on the ground?

I have had the pleasure of listning to some very funny people.. I recall one stage show where I commented that the performers had us dang near rolling in the isle and never used a bad word.

The lead performer noted that he came real real close but I'd prevented it. (There is a story there, fact is he and I both noticed something about to happen, when it did, I took quick action and saved the day.. Once I took action the person who SHOULD have prevented it figured out what was happenbing.. (A father, who'd daughter was kicking the foot of a light stand,, When it came apart I grabbed the stand before it became unbalanced and re-sssembled the foot)

Above in bold is why I seldom listen to the "comedy" channels on SiriusXM. Add to it that comedians today feel the need to get political. That, my friends, is stupid. By going political you immediately alienate 1/2 of your audience. Trying to compare me to a Neanderthal because I disagree with your debaucheries is the fastest way to get permanently banned from my sources of mass media. 1st Amendment doesn't apply. Lol.

Johnny Carson was the best at political humor. He could make fun of the politcian without bringing the politics into it.

..........Maybe that is why I don't mind the crude humor of Bob&Tom. They tend to leave political policy out of their schtick.

I did listen to Glen Beck a bit when he was on TV. I thought of him as boring but not obnoxious. I stumbled across him on radio a couple weeks ago and what a screaming moron. He was yelling and screaming and laughing at something that he and his sidekick would say that I couldn't even understand. Perhaps radio takes more effort to be impressive.

I listen to Minnesota Public Radio quite often but, if they have something on I don't want to listen to I just turn it off. All the stations around here went country and I hate that stuff. There are a handful of classic rock station but, not very many. And, as for new rock? There are just none of those in my area at all. And , there is none of that stuff the kids listen too on the air either. You can go up and down the dial and listen to Achey Brakey Hart on one station after another.
