We are planning a trip from Las Cruces, NM to Huston, TX over the Christmas holidays. Where to stay and what to see? All input will be appreciated.

Look at Stephen F. Austin State Park at San Felipe. About 50 miles west of Houston off of I-10. Depending on where you are going around Houston, this campground location is not difficult to get into Katy or Houston.

I like to stay at Rayford crossing but it North of the city in the woodlands Kema (sorry about the spelling) boardwalk is neat to see. Traffic is tough from Rayford so you may wish to stay closer in If you stay at Rayford Old town spring tx is neat day trip Hydes is a decent place for burger and beer

My son is in the southern part near Kemah/League City. A number of RV parks in the area. Nothing super fancy that I have seen. As to SP's, Stephen F. Austin is a good state Park. I also very much like Brazos Bend SP and Galveston Island SP farther south and west.

I stay away from Rayford crossing. Last time I was there the grounds crew chipped one bin door badly with their string trimmer throwing rocks. After trying to get some resolution with and from the park owners I was ordered off the property. Was as nasty as I have ever been treated.

One park that I can personally recommend is Galveston Bay RV Resort in Dickinson TX. It is right on Dickinson Bayou and has a fishing pier, boat marina and is really isolated as compared to the others around the area. All views from the park are excellent with many spaces right on the water. It is also handy to Kemah, NASA and Galveston.

A great RV park in Houston is Lake View on So. Main St. We have here for 12 weeks. Great facilities and very well managed.

Stephen F Austin is a nice park. Pull-thru sites and full hookups. Brazoa Bend is a great park, lots to see and do. Back in sites but water and electric only, dump station available. Brazos Bend stays full so book early.

We've stayed at the Oasis RV park on I-45. It is owned by Ron Hoover RV ad offers trailer service as well as a good place to stay that is between Galveston and NASA in the Clear Lake area.
