We've had our TT for about two months now. Two local weekenders and now our first real road trip is behind us! We did 3 nights at Hunting Island State Park (SC).

Some of you may remember my first thread here, where I told the story of our miserable Hunting Island trip in a tent and how that led us to the TT. Hunting Island Tent trip

And some may have read the story of our troublesome local trips. Admission Corner...

I'm happy to report, that we are ironing out the kinks and well on our way to having fun! Our truck did better than expected towing the 600 mile round trip. Setup was uneventful as was take down. Nothing broke and I managed to stay clean at the dump station! LOL

We've had lots of rain both trips to Hunting Island. This time, it rained so much that half our site was underwater! Good thing we weren't in the tent this time. In fact, we slept through the night and didn't even know it was raining.

The bugs were thick as thieves! We vowed that we will never again take a site in the rear portion of this park. We couldn't spend one minute out on our site. We were either at the beach are running for solice in our camper. It seems, however, that 11 month out reservations are tough to get for the breezier part of the park. We'll have to do that though, as it just isn't worth it in the back.

Here's our site and setup.

Here's the four of us on the beach at a beautiful spot! The saltwater intrusion is a sad thing, but it did create a striking landscape.

It was one of the coolest bike rides we've ever had!

Even the dog swam for hours, ending in a sick dog! Hahaha.

At the end of our first long day swimming and riding, the boys kicked back in their bunks for some quiet time. I love this photo!

We had the grandparents visit us for dinner. We sat 6 around the dinet, I was impressed.

Took a hike through the salt water marshes.

And found a starfish at the beach on a morning walk.

On the drive, we came across a neat old ruin. Sheldon Church, destroyed in the Revolutionary war.

We had to manage our water tanks closely to avoid an early trip to the dump station. We showered one day in the public restroom. That wasn't fun though. I'll have to buy us a tote so we can quit worrying.

The trailer came with only rear stabalizers and I'll have to add two to the front. There's far too much shake.

In all, it was a great time and we are all planning the next adventure. We went in the trailer today to clean up and it made us all sad. It already represents the "fun place".

Very nice!

I've been to that church. In fact, every side road you take has SOMETHING worth seeing. It's a great area to explore.

For those who qualify, there are HANDICAPPED waterfront sites which are listed through the regular reervation service - call and ask! These also fill up early.

Hunting Island is a very nice park. The back section is very buggy. Being up front and listening to the waves break at your campsite is the way to go. BTW, the deer will eat from your hand if you have something that interests them. The CG floods badly in many areas when it rains hard.

Seemed like the deer would have come to us, but I had the kids around and didn't want to be attacked like you see on tv.

I guess photos aren't popular round here?

When we go somewhere we know it is going to be buggy we take yard spray along.
Small fans set up outside and blowing in the direction of the chairs help keep the mosquitos away also.

After all this talk of being miserable from the bugs, we just got our choice site for next summer! #39 right on the beach! We said we wouldn't go back unless we were in the ocean breeze, and after scouting, this was our first choice site. Never thought we'd get it.
