I'm sorry was too busy this week to even take a look. Thanks for all the info and suggestions. I will take a look under it to check the connectors and the motor. I will try the tap on the motor case if I can reach it. If it is the motor I hope mines is also a power window motor that are common and cheap. Are the motors easily accessible?

Low chassis battery seems to be one of the common problems. I'll second the "watch your fingers", especially if your out in a storage lot somehere alone.

I had the motorhome plugged up at home so I thought that would eliminate the low battery issue but maybe not. After not working for awhile yesterday it starts working. Since it is at my house I turned it off to save whatever limited use of it I might have left. I might just defer this maintenance until the next time I take it to the shop.

UPDATE:
My parents came in town and I turned the steps on so they could board the MH but when we exited it and closed the door the steps wouldn't retract all the way yet I heard the motor. I took a look under it and it seems the arm that moves the steps broke at the attachment point. Any suggestions?

Take it off, take it to a machine shop and tell them to call you when it's fixed. Then put it back on.

You can google the manufacture and probably get a new part if the local guy cant weld it. good luck if it is a keywee I have a manual and others probally do too.

I googled the part no. and found one in Phoenix for $12. As far as the motor NOT working, I smacked the motor with a hammer and it has worked for all this summer. I believe it is a dirty or corroded armature.
