I put together a first aid kit for in the MH. I had seen some commercially prepared kits and they are next to useless.

I carry:
4 X 4 Gauze sponges
Non-stick gauze pads
Gauze on rolls
Vet wrap
Benadryl
Imodium
Pepto Bismol
Baby Aspirin
Chlorhexiderm Flush
Antibiotic ointment
Quick stop
Scissors
Tweezers
Tick remover
Latex gloves
Hydrogen peroxide
Alcohol
Syringes for liquid oral meds
Pupppy piddle pads
Sterile eye flush
Genteal gel eye moisture drops
Rescue Remedy
Clipper with a surgical blade to remove hair from around a wound.

And probably a few other things I forgot to mention.
I also carry a few of those instant cold packs for anyone that might need them - ppl or furry ppl.

What does everyone else carry?

My human first aid is the same as the dog kit. I agree the commercial ones are ridiculous. One other thing to add, if you don't have GPS is a list of nearby Vets to the CG you will be at.

WOW, and can you do open heart surgeries too? I'm not being critical at all but that's about the most complete "first aid kit" I've seen. I think, if you don't have it, no one will need it.. All that work building a kit you hope you will never use..I think my kit consists of a few band aids and a bottle of asparins... I'm ashamed..

LOL No open heart surgeries. I did save myself a vet call one time. My old boy had a growth, and he knocked it open. It was bleeding pretty good. I got it stopped with the stuff I had to clot a wound. If I hadn't had my supplies along, a vet visit would have been necessary. After we got home, we had our vet remove the growth.

Another time there was a dog fight - not my dogs, but a neighboring camper. I brought my stuff out and helped them clean the wounds on the dogs.

ANother time a lady was playing with her grandkids and fell. She took a good spill. I took stuff up for them to patch her up with. They asked if I was a nurse. I laughed and told them no, I just fall a lot myself, and go prepared to patch myself up.

I know how to deal with a variety of things, and take the stuff, just in case. My luck is such that if I leave home without it, I will need it. So I carry it just to be safe.

But you are a VET!!!
I would probably glue my fingers together with crazy glue.

I did have some really nice liquid stuff that I got from Pet Edge, that I used that time to stop the bleeding on the growth. I went to buy more and they discontinued it.

X2 Just last week we had an emergency situation with our dog. Fortunately, we were close to home and able to find a pet emergency clinic. After surgery, we were able to take him to our regular vet. He seems like he is on the mend but our fingers are stll crossed! From now on, we will always find the nearest vet and animal clinic wherever we go!
