I thought everyone used a cell phone now instead of land lines.

In your cell you can just program them out.
Do tell?

I have yet to see a phone that locks out numbers. They may exist but are far from the norm. I had to build a custom silent "ring" for the iPhone to get it to happen.

And that only works with known numbers

Try call control app. Its on the android store site and free.

Here is how i have been dealing with the phone scammers:

I dial '1' to talk to a rep.

When the rep comes on line, I tell them,

"You have reached the 'Identity Theft Division', may I help you?"

I did that twice a couple of weeks ago and I haven't received any of those calls since, so I guess it must be working.

"Do not call" registry is a joke to say the least. Just for fun, google "Rachel from credit card services" and see the multiple thousands of complaints.

I have filed a complaint on this very call, with the Do Not Call Registary three times and haven't heared a peep back. A waste of federal dollars IMO.

Sorry to hear that. The DNCL is a joke, you may have to go cell to get rid of this.

I hate to tell you this but I get as many calls on my cell phone and my cell phone is registered. I have also read that the political survey is actually a sales call if you listen in far enough, disguising itself as a "legal" call.

I get near zero spam calls on my cell and I've never registered. I apparently don't need to, nor did I ever need to. With a cell it's also very easy to look at the incoming number. If you don't recognize it, just don't answer.

The DNC request works. It has cut 95% of the spam on our land line and we never have had a cell spam problem but registered it also when we did our ll about 4 years ago.

DNC for cell phones is: 888-382-1222. You must call from the cell number you wish to be on the list.

Wow, lots of posts from people that have NO CLUE

For real answers, try the actual government Web-site

The do-not-call list has so many exceptions:
in-state commercial, not covered (not constitutional)
political, not covered
charity, not covered
any business that you already have a relationshop with, not covered
any non-US business, not covered

There have also been several (successful) prosecutions of companies that failed to comply with the do-no-call list

When someone tells you to buy the same rig they own, listen, they might be right. When they tell you to buy a different rig then they own, really pay attention, they probably know something you don't.

I would argue that the DNC list in general is totally useless. A majority of spam calls come from overseas where the fed has ZERO authority... That's why they're there.

For the rest with blocked numbers, there's nothing to report cuz there's no number
