I UPGRADED to LT to improve the longevity/durability/peace of mind - which leads to better sleeping at night. I got rid of my CHINA BOMBS with only 3000 miles on them.

I knew it wouldn't take Fast Eagle long to chime in.

I have to agree with FastEagle. Why do some call every modification to their trailer/truck an upgrade when really it is a modification. It may be an actual upgrade or maybe not. "Upgrading" to tires with a lower weight rating in my mind is a modification, not an upgrade. Maybe this modification will work for some, but in my case it would be a downgrade since I have 7,000 axles and LT tires would definitely not work for me due to their decreased weight rating from the original ST tires.

My "upgrade" will be to G614's this next spring and I do have 110 psi wheels already.

Everyone has there opinion and are entitled to it. In my case i didnt trust the tow max tires i had. I went with Duarvis 250 for the steel casing.

So by getting rid of my ST Carlisle"s, and going to Kumho 857's with a slightly better weight rating, and a MUCH better speed rating, was that a modification or an upgrade?

Trailer tires are rated for 65 mph. Those that upgraded to truck tires did you do it to improve the speed rating or load rating?

I have 16 inch load range E tires on the fifth wheel.

IMO it make no sense/cents using a inferior tire even with 500 lbs more capacity if the tire is unreliable.

I made the switch simply to gain reliability as ST tires simply didn't work for me. I tried going up in load ranges/next size larger/etc but still had the same results and these were all USA made major branded ST tires, many years before ST tire production were sent to overseas. Its amusing listening to china trailer tires getting bashed when we had the same issues when all ST tires were made in the USA.

Others have differeing experiences.

I reality there are lots of LT tires made in China. The Toyos on my TV say made in china right on them. The issue is that tires that a put on our cars and truck go through more extensive and stringent testing to get that DOT approval than ST tires do. We put LT tires on our rig when the ST tires started separating.
