My son just got an older camper for his pick-up. My question is should all the weight of camper be on the bed of the truck or should some be on the side of the truck? Brick

should all be on the bed floor...sides should not touch...if they do you may have to put some wood under it to raise it off the bed rails.

I bought an older TC and I had to raise the bottom of the camper. I used some 2x2 cedar, they cost around $3 and worked great. Slapped on some liquid nails and galvanized screws and it worked perfect.

As the others have said, all weight should be in the bed, rails should have an air gap of at least an 1". If the TV is a newer Ford the overhang could hit the cab also.

Why does he need at least 1" of an air gap?

Some shell campers attach to the bed sides. Most of the traditional compers that are on this forum are made to have all the weight on the bed floor.
