I was told that the air filter should be changed every 3 years.....That is what we do now and the filter was very dirty last time, even though the meter was not indicating such.

Ignore the little yellow air filter Gage, they aren't reliable! Yes, you probably are overdue for an air filter change! When to change is mostly a function of where you drive and total mileage since the last change.Your Monaco owners manual will probably have the part number for the air filter. I too have a Monaco product and I do my own air filter change and I get the filter from NAPA truck parts store for about $80....CAT wants about twice and Monaco wanted about 4 times what NAPA gets. It's an easy change out. It is Monaco that designated the air filter part not your engine manufacturer. You're ready, go for it!

Thanks. I have had the same experience with the gauge. I will change my filter and report back on the state of the old one.

Also, air filters are a bit like tires. Even if you do not annually drive that much they will age out because the paper will deteriorate. I have heard both 2 and 3 years for filter changes. At the two year point I will inspect mine and see if I want to go for the third year. I have yet to talk to a mechanic that trust the air restrictor gauge.

As racerchaser said....it's a time thing...and IF the filter deteriorates and becomes unglued and your engine ingests paper and glue thru the turbo, it will cost MANY air filters to fix it!!!
