We have a reservation at Lake Havasu, but I was not happy with the winds there...thinking of Yuma, but have never been there at all.
Here is what we need/want for a winter stay park:
1. Friendly for dogs...ease of getting to walk/dog bathroom area...generally tolerant attitude of management.
2. Swimming pool for DW....
3. Activities such as quilting, also for DW..
3. Outdoor games for me...suffleboard, horseshoes, other games perhaps..
4. We can't afford a top resort...we would like to pay perhaps $300-$350/month, plus electric..
5. Need full hookups..electric, sewer, water..
6. Fairly quiet, or somewhat away from highway noise if possible.
I don't know where to look in Yuma...it seems the park reviews contain many old parks that are mostly park models, and few winter RV spaces.......We like being with snowbirds, as they seem more friendly.
Thanks for any suggestion.

You can search Yuma on this forum and find lots.

Our friends live in the Casa de Oro ---- I know some of your requirements are met there....but I'm not sure of the cost. It's a little ways out of Yuma but there are fast food joints and stores close by. We stayed in their RV there last fall -- quiet, no highway noises, NICE people. And our friends are quilters ---- I could "introduce" you if you stay there. Oh and it's a newer park -- VERY nice

Hi..I searched for Casa de Oro, and didn't get a hit......I did find Fortuna de Oro there.....is that possibly the one? There was one review that said the mgt was nice, and there were a lot of things to do.....

Husk, there is between 73 or 93 RV parks in the Yuma Area, I forget which number is correct. There are so many varibles involved. I notice you didn't say anything about site size. Some parks were built before slides and larger rigs so site size can become an issue. Also beware Union Pacific has a very busy rail line thru the Yuma area and quite a few parks on the north side of I-8 can be close to the choo-choo tracks. I always warn people, don't make any long term reservations sight unseen. By the way this will be our 10th winter in Yuma, as they say time flies when you are having fun. As far as RV Park reviews, I wouldn't put much stock in that as seniors for the most part either don't bother with it or even know it exists. And pictures on websites can be very decieving. I swear most are computer enhanced!

With the requirements you list it is not likely you will find anything in the $300-350 range. Bare private lots without any amenities go for $300+ in Yuma. RV parks are in the $500-600 range. There are several new large parks in Yuma. Last winter several in the foothills area had vacancies that I would guess in the 25% range. Here is one possibility.
Fortuna De Oro
As for wind I will not make any promises. The wind blows in Yuma too.

thanks for all the responses...we have a campground in Lake Havasu that meets all the critera we want, and we pay $350/mo plus electric..prices seem higher in Yuma.
I looked at a couple web sites of nicer parks in the Yama area..and the Fortuna de Oros park would cost $550 plus..
We are not fans of trains (I know some are)...we have camped along I-80 in Wyoming a number of times..and the train traffic is legendary..
Other than the wind, and some days when it feels raw because of relative lower temps than Yuma, and the wind...other than that, Havasu is a nice place.....chances are we will stay there another winter, and take a day trip down to Yuma to look around a bit..

There are a lot of privately owned lots in Yuma Foothills that rent for $175 and up that have large lots approx 65 x 110 with full hookups. Just a short distance from the many RV Parks that you can participate in there games etc.
I have been doing this for the last 12 years or so

What campground in Havasu? We might end up in that area during this winter.

What size Dog? Sunridge RV Park in the foothills area has everything you wanted at $325.00 + electric per month. They only allow small dogs in the 25# range. New management last year made the park a lot better. This will be our 5the winter there.
