As I mentioned in another thread, we have been planning to order a Discover America 300FK. We've been planning and setting aside funds for this purchase for over two years. So, with the order deadline looming, we decided to go ahead and order one.

And, yes, we fit the stereotype mentioned in the earlier thread: we're older and have public employee pensions (certainly not huge) along with a little Social Security income. Donna was a school teacher and I was a school district accountant. Our parents all lived during the Depression, so we learned to SAVE instead of spending every penny we earned.

We chose this unit because we could get a well-built coach that is under 32 feet. Very FEW manufacturers build high-end RV's in the shorter lengths. We also liked the fact that we were able to pick and choose from many options and have it built with the items we felt were most important (within our budget.) And, yes, there were some items we would have liked to have, but they would taken us over our budget.

We're the same way with houses; we believe bigger is not necessarily better. For those that do, there are many options. For those of us that don't, it's very often quite difficult to find what you want.

We hope to see you down the road over the next several years.

Mike

Personally, regardless of the times, I think you made a good choice. NuWa has enjoyed a good reputation for many years. They will be high on my list when I retire and change RV's after next summer. I'm not opposed to buying a quality built used model in great shape.

Congrats-- Good friends have a 2004 that has been very problem free and they are now 3 months into a 5 month trip along the west coast.
I remember back in 2009 when many Manufactures closed, NUWA did a similuar spension of production for many months and it allowed them to remain solvent and come back. I hope that will happen again and we are talking about production resuming. Randu

Good luck you picked a fine unit, hope they have a chance to come back as builders of good units are getting few and far between.

Hope you can negotiate a good price. Those units on lots are being heavily discounted by dealers. Your obviously planning on keeping it a long time, thus resale should not be a problem. Good luck! As an accountant type, I applaud your faith in a company apparently leaving the market!

Congrats on choosing a NuWa product. I think you'll appreciate the quality. I've been fulltiming in mine for the past 5 years (purchased new) and have had almost zero problems. Just a few minor things: plastic faucet handles on kitchen & bathroom sinks are fragile and a little bit of the wood-grain paper trim has come loose. Both problems easily fixed. That's about the sum of all the "problems" . I hope you'll enjoy your purchase for many years to come.

It is simply amazing to see the quality, features, and roominess built into the shorter fifth wheels that NUWA builds. I look constantly at other rigs and have yet to find one even remotely close in size that offers as much as our NUWA. Add that we have had ours over 7 years and have actually towed it over 60,000 miles and our only significant problem has been a broken spring hanger in 2008. Our NUWA is our third fifth wheel and seventh rig overall, so I feel that we have a pretty good basis for comparison over a period of many years.

Your making a great choice. I"m in a big park in South Fork Co. I've seen several new Discover Americas come into the park. I"m sure you will love the unit.

We just bought a 349 RSB and love it, only a few issues that we have found after living in it for a couple of months. Looking forward to many more years of using it after a trip to Chanute to take care of the minor issues, along with a few upgrades that we want. Hope the production issue is just a minor setback with NuWa, would hate to see them shut down production permanently. Mike, take heed!! Figure it out!!!
