DH just got admitted to the hospital and will need some minor surgery but his friends all told him, get in your RV and go. Have you ever just gotten in your RV without a destination in mind and if so, how did it go.

We GENERALLY know which part of the country we're headed for but that's about the extend of our RVing plans. All of the details we take care of on the fly.
We did ONCE just kind of "flip a coin" when we got to the end of the block with Heads for West and tails for East (it turned up west).
Since it's kind of hard to go somewhere we hadn't already been before it was not QUITE as adventuresome as it seems though.

yup. most trips we have a direction or general idea in mind but that's about it. some trips are more definitive but not most.

We often head out with no specific destination in mind, deciding on major turns as we reach them. Or sometimes we head out with someplace in mind, and either never get there, or end up going someplace entirely different afterwards. One example; Last March we left our Upstate NY cottage intending to head down to Knoxville, TN for a week or so. When we reached the end of I-88 in Binghamton, NY, where we would normally head south on I-81, instead we decided to shoot over to Corning, NY to visit the glass works and museum. When we ran into a long detour around a serious accident though, we dropped the Corning idea and continued west on I-86 to I-90, and over the course of the next few days found ourselves in Branson, MO. After we were there for a few days, we decided to swing south and west through Arkansas over to Salina, OK to check in with a friend we hadn't seen in years. From Salina, we decided to continue west through Texas and New Mexico to the Grand Canyon for a few days of sightseeing. After that, we started back northeast, making a leisurely 200 miles or so per day, with a couple of two day layovers here and there, making sure we made it back in time for our granddaughter's college graduation. Our "week or so" trip took about five weeks instead. Six days later we took off again...
