If we are in a park with cable, or if there are over the air channels available, I will use those. But we often stay at locations where cable and over the air are not available. So then I use the sat.

THere are programs my wife will not miss, so we have a winegard carry (mounted on top) and a receiver we bought for it.
And then there are Nascar races we always DVR.
If we are headed for a campground under the trees and no cable, we will DVR several programs ahead of time.

Slimline dish on a tripod here. I have Direct's SWM system and have two DVR's. I have their DNS service so my DVR's don't have to be reprogrammed for my favorite programs every time I move into another spot beam area.

We also have DirecTV and two receivers. We have a dome on the coach and we carry a 18" dish with tripod and 100' of cable for those areas that are sometimes difficult to get signals in. If we are more than 150 miles from home we can use the batwing for the local channels.

My subscription from Dish is about $1.00 a day. Since I'm paying for it already, even in parks with cable, I stay on the satellite. Plus I like the listing guide and I know what channels I like. I will also crank up the free to air bat wing for the local channels.

I use the same dual tuner receiver from my house and use park cable when they have better programing then my sat service, which isn't very often. I just call dish and tell them where I'm at for the local stations if I'm out of range from the previous set up.

It really is a personal choice. We are rigged for all 3 Television options. Antenna ,Cable and Shaw Direct/Star Choice! We also carry a few DVD's.
If Momma wants to watch The Biggest-Idol-Survivor-Dance I stop earlier and set up the Dish!
