NO, a 1996 will NOT have a V10. It will have the 460 V8.

I have a friend that had a late 1998 Newmar Mountain Aire. He said it was the first of that model with the V10. Earlier models were 460. He really liked the V10 and had it for 6 years.

I remember 1997 as the year that Ford went to their Triton engines...4.2L V6, 4.6L V8, 5.4L V8 and 6.8L V10. I had a 97 F150, 98 F150 and 99 Expedition all with the 4.6L V8. I think it was 1998 that Ford came out with the new F250/350 Super Duty trucks, and they had the 6.8L V10...270HP with 4spd trans. That is also about the time that Detroit Chassis came into being and started selling F53 chassis to motorhome manfacturers with the V10 4spd.

1997 model year was the last year for the 460/E4OD in a F53 chassis. NO 1998 model year F53 chassis. 1999 model year was the first year for the V10/4R100 in a F53 chassis. Production begin in 1998 for the 1999 model year chassis, so a 1998 coach could be on a 460 or V10 chassis.

Richard is right. My 1998 Pace Arrow is on a 1999 chassis with the V10.
This is unusual because most motorhomes are titled a year newer than the chassis.

I have a 1999 southwind made in 1998 on a ford chassis with a v-10.It has 30000 miles on it.I service iy myself, and never had a problem.Ive bought the mh when it 4500 miles in 2004.the v-10 has the largest radiator ford makes,it will never over heat.I did replace all the hoses and belts this last year, along with fuel filter, and antifreeze. LOVE MY V-10

As a note we love our V-10 however the 2012 model year it has now being discontinued due to fleet average gas mileage asked of the Govt. I had the8.1 Chevy before another fine engine but the V-10 seems to take the grades much better.
