Instead of putting every car or truck that I'm considering up, let me ask what everbody might be towing right now? In the past? What set up? Are you happy with it?

This is a valuable forum!

2005 GMC Sierra crew cab 4X4 LT trim. A little heavy(6000#+) for some, but the convenience and utility use, far outweighs the extra weight. Have toad 4dr sedans, SUVs, and 4dr trucks and the truck is the winner by far.

We tow a Jeep Wrangler.

I think it would depend on how many bodies you take and what you do with the toad. If you've got several warm bodies whether 2 legged or 4, you might not want something small like a Wrangler.

If you want to do off roading, a Wrangler might fit the bill but it's pretty utilitarian... not many creature comforts. If you want comfort as you go to the grocery or sight see you might consider something else. Jeeps are very easy to tow. We have a disconnect switch for the battery & DH removes a fuse for something, sets the gear box & away we go.

'03 Jeep Wrangler and '10 Jeep Liberty. both no hassle, flat towed with no time/distance/speed restrictions like some others. no need to pull fuses or run a charge line for the battery on either model.

Among several things I'm considering (only a few years away from empty nest) is the head count and the fact that the dinghy will be a daily driver for the most part. That leaves out my favorite such as a Wrangler or a big truck that will get horrible gas mileage. That still leaves a lot of vehicles. Many times (like the Mazda 6 problem I have) I find something that will fit my "at home" parameters, but can't be towed 4 wheels down.

2008 Chevy Colorado, 4 wheel drive, 4 door pickup. We carry a Honda Ruckus scooter in the bed. Tow it 4 down. Easy to set up for towing. Does not count towed miles. Roadmaster Tow Bar. Works great.

As noted in my sig.
If I can find a good deal on a dolly, I will also tow the PT Cruiser convertible. (It has to be dolly towed or on a trailer; automatic transmission, y'see...)
