Several weeks ago, I finally gave up on Windows Live Mail because it took forever to get anything done using it and switched to Thunderbird which seems light years faster.. Recently though we have started receiving numerous spam emails to our accounts that have only "FOR TOM" (not real name)..in the subject line, and a known person in the from line however the email address in ( ) following the known name is that of the spammer... I suspect that someone has access to my Thunderbird address book as one of the spams used a name (not email address) exactly as it was misspelled in the Thunderbird address book.. Do they (Thunderbird) sell your address book or has any else experienced this problem?? How can I put a stop to it? Maybe it is something I will have to live with.. Thanks in advance for any and all comments as I am in the dark on this one...
i suspect you have some Malware on your computer, possibly a key logger
that sent your pw and ID to the spammer, or a trojan that read your address book and sent out the info to the spammer

Your issue has nothing to do with Thunderbird. Either your contacts have been compromised on your system, or on another email recipients computer that links back to your email address. Mozilla doesn't sell your personal information. It gets nearly all of its income from Google in the tune of nearly $1 billion total for the next three years, for being the default search engine in Firefox. You're always free to set any search engine as your default.
