CURRENTLY MAKING THE ROUNDS ON THE WEB, Author Unknown
Several days ago as I left a meeting at a hotel, I desperately gave myself a personal TSA pat down.
I was looking for my keys. They were not in my pockets. A quick search of the meeting room revealed nothing.
Suddenly I realized I must have left them in the car. Frantically, I headed for the parking lot.
My wife has scolded me many times for leaving the keys in the ignition.
My theory is the ignition is the best place not to lose them.
Her theory is that the car will be stolen. As I burst through the door, I came to a terrifying conclusion. Her theory was right. The parking lot was empty.
I immediately called the police. I gave them my location, confessed that I had left my keys in the car, and that it had been stolen.
Then I made the most difficult call of all, "Honey," I stammered; I always call her "honey" in times like these. "I left my keys in the car, and it has been stolen."
There was a period of silence. I thought the call had been dropped, but then I heard her voice.
"Dummy!, she barked, "I dropped you off!"
Now it was my time to be silent. Embarrassed, I said, "Well, come and get me."
She retorted, "I will, as soon as I convince this policeman I have not
stolen your car."
Yep, welcome to the golden years!!!

I do not find that funny because it hits WAY to close to home.
My wife & I usually commute into work together and sometimes she has the car and sometimes I have it. Other times we both come in with separate cars (different schedules) and we BOTH have the car. So I have:
1. Waited in the parking lot for her to pick me up at the end of the day, only to get a call from her asking why I haven't come over yet.
2. Tried looking in the lot for the car that is over at my wife's office.
3. Forgot to pick her up at work and drive partially home before I realize I've stranded her.
My only saving grace is she's done these same things to me.
We have also left a car overnight at our respective offices when we come in with separate cars and forget that and go home in one of the two.
My BIL left his keys and phone in the UNLOCKED car one day at work. Car was stolen, but they pinged his iphone and followed the car. Found the car and phone in a store parking lot. Thief had gone inside, taken the keys and left his backpack. Never came back to the car (probably saw the police). SIL brought the spare key. They are fortunate this event only cost them a replacement key.

Don't forget the free backpack was it full of money?
