After reading all the answers to my post on new tires delima, I just had a new set of Maxxis put on the tt. Compared Maxxis with Kuhmos and went with Maxxis. Couldn't see spending the extra for the Kuhmos and even had them balanced.
I run Michelens on the tow vehicle and now with the new Maxxis, should be good for worry free travelling at least as far as tires are concerned.
Thanks for all the answers I got from everyone, heading for Taos tomorrow and the great lakes in 3 weeks. Don

I suppose it would be asking too much for you to post if the Maxxis tires fail ?
Kumho 2271 # each versus Maxxis 1870 # each capacity.
Best of luck to you .

Enjoy your trips and the new shoes…

Wow we actually got people hoping you have a failure so you can report it and give him some gloating material and he can say I told you so…
That is amazing…

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Kumho&tireModel=Radial+857

the size is 205R14
it is a load range D with a 99 mph speed rating
it weighs 29 pounds and is rated for 2271 # load rating at 65 psi
Kumho 857 is the model

The OP has not said what he bought.
I assume he bought the largest 14 inch Maxxis
Maxxis specs :
http://www.maxxis.com/Industrial/Trailer/M8008-ST-Radial.aspx
Maxxis 215/75 R 14 load range C speed rating is 65 mph
load rating is 1870 # at 50 psi
Maxxis does not publish the actual weight of their ST tires
Maxxis M8008 ST Radial is the model.

JJ spent days convincing the OP that the Maxxis is superior.
I hope that other readers will consider the evidence and make a more informed purchase.

You cqn bet I will report how the tires do and if there are any failures.
I did not go with the Kuhmos for a couple of reasons. One is the price. The other is that total load amounts for the two.
For the Maxxis the toatal is 7380 pounds.
For the Kuhmos the total is 9084 pounds.
Since my trailer weight is 6500 pounds and it is well undeer the Maxxis total weight, why bother spending the extra money?
