I'm new to TT's and have had this happen twice now. I have come home from a trip and forgot to unhook the battery for storage. Within a week, the battery is dead and I then remember to plug into shore power for a charge. I plug to shore and everything works. I leave it like that overnight for a charge and when I unplug from shore, it blows one of my 15 amp 12v fuses (same one both times).
Any ideas?

Try turning off your 120 volt AC main breaker inside the trailer before unplugging. It is also recommended to turn off the same breaker and the shore power breaker when plugging in the trailer. Hopefully, this will solve your problem.

Which circuit is 15A fuse on?
Is it really blowing when you unplug......or maybe when plugging in.....or even sometime during the night?
I would identify what is on that circuit and check for problems (loose connections, grounded, bad equipment).
I think it has more to do with that circuit vs plugging/unplugging the AC power source.........it's a 12V DC circuit.

Thanks guys. I'll identify what's on that circuit so we know.
It definetely doesn't happen when plugging in, because I checked this time trying to troubleshoot. I don't think it happens through the night, but not sure. I'll pay closer attention.
Is flipping the main breaker recommended as typical use? Do most people do this? Not much trouble, and does seem like it removes stress from the electrical system. Would flipping that breaker each time save me from having to unhook the battery in storage?
Thanks.

I would also check to see if the battery is connected properly. They are so easy to get reversed. The way I keep my self straight is to find the stampe "NEG" or "-" symbol on the battery case and the hand trace that connected battery cable to the trailer FRAME GROUND connection close to the battery.
If it reversed then it will blow the "REV POLARITY" fuse on the 12VDC DC Distribution Panel. There is also another IN-LINE fuse real close to the battery that also may blow...
Just something else to check - may not be your trouble at all...
Sometimes when the battery is really discharged for whatever ever reason it, it will draw a whole bunch of amps when first connected to shore power which may be another cause for blowing a fuse. To me however a 15AMP fuse is almost too small of rating to be in the battery charging loop. Most are 30AMP for a single battery install.
Need more info on exactly which fuse is being blown on the DC Power Distribution Panel. Some older trailer ELIXIR model converters only have three 12VDC circuit fuses and one 12VDC REV POLARITY fuse.
my two cents worth
Just looked at your possible converter and only see a few 12VDC fuses in the opened converter panel. Im betting the RED one is the REv POLARITY fuse. The one on the bottom...

Flipping the main 120 volt AC breaker only turns off the AC side which has no effect since the camper is not plugged into AC anyway.
The DC side of everything is still connected and any drains would still pull the 12 DC battery down or a short would still blow a DC fuse.

Roy, now that's scary. How'd you get into my trailer? LOL
I was headed outside to investigate better, when the sky opened up. Won't get it tonight, but I'll check better in the morning.
The lowest 12v fuse is a 40amp and the rest are 15's.

I flip the pedestal breaker before I plug in or unplug keeps from burning (arcing ) the prongs on the the RV plug this may be what he was talking about. Do the same at home before plugging in.

Thanks.
Doesn't sound like he is talking about the breaker on the power pedestal to me.

TRAGUSA3 - That dragon fly that keeps pestering you may not be what it seems to be hehe...
GOOGLE is your friend. Just type in any part number, model number, name, or whatever, and it will tell you something about that subject.
Here lately I have been doing the GOOGLE IMAGES which is real neat. Like in your trailer I just typed in the trailer model number you listed in your profile and when it loads up on screen then select "IMAGES" on the left screen. You will find sometimes many pages of photos all in one place relating to the search question. That photo came from a local RV dealer having it listed for sale somewhere. It was neat as it had the door dropped down on the Converter.
By the way I love the smaller campers big time. This one you have has a real nice layout inside. Just perfect for a couple of campers... Low maintenance-can drag almost anywhere-can park almost anywhere-and has all the comforts of home... I am sort of new to the RV trailer world since 2008 and was always a jeep guy pulling a 5x8 utility trailer prior to that back the early 60s... Momabear and I have looked at something with hard sides every now and then but never had made the move yet. Its hard to go from 19-21MPG to 8-10MPH pulling the higher hard walled trailers... Then I would want to go visit my mtn sites we visit alot along the VA/WVA state line up in the George Washinton Natl forest roads.
Might be alittle hard to get your trailer up here in this spot we will be staying in OCT when the leaves and weather changes some...

When you are up on the forest service roads up on the ridge you never know who may show up for breakfast. This photo kills me everytime i see it... Someone said his kids are never that polite waiting for breakfast...

Enjoy your new trailer...
