We actually have such a weekend planned. My wife and some of her girlfriends from work are planning a "Girls Camping Weekend". She will not drive the RV, so I chose a campground 3 miles down the road! I will drive there, set up camp, and take my wife's car home. On Sunday I will drive over to break camp and take the RV home. I chose this particular campground so that I will be able to get there fast if they run into any problems. OH yes, I am invited to dinner Saturday night!
See you on the road!

It almost seems goofy to go camping so close to home.
Thoughts?
Do you feel funny about dining out within 30 minutes of home? I reckon the message has gotten through via the earlier posters, you are engaging in a leisure activity and sharing time with loved ones. Doesn't matter how far you go to do so, just go.
And for the record, we have a Corps of Engineers park three miles from our home with heaps of campsites around it, haven't stayed in each site yet, but we are working on it.
Best wishes,

We go to close by campgrounds often, esp early in the season (& when the kids were really little), still tons of fun, get to sleep in the trailer etc...doesn't have to be far to be camping!

It's not the distance...it the time enjoying the outdoors. Have some local friends come to the camp for a campfire. They may learn too why we love going RVing. Also a great opportunity to check out the RV.

We do it all the time. There is a jellystone park about 20 min away from us. My kids love it. It is nice because if we for get something we can go home and get it. Also friends come and spend the day at the waterpark with us.

I'm looking forward to spending lots of weekends at the campground that is 45 minutes from my house. It's on a beautiful lake. One of us will drive the RV and the other will drive the truck and tow the boat. This is also the perfect destination for our very first RV camping trip since there are 2 RV dealers and a Walmart right down the road for those things that we didn't know we needed.

We often camp within an hour of home. I've always said, my kids don't care if they are 5, 50, or 500 miles from home. They just like the experience, and we get uninterrupted family time wherever we are!
