I used to use Microsoft Streets and Trips on my PC. LOVED it. But now have a Mac. What's best for the Mac?

If you have a Garmin GPS, Garmin Base Camp is great and free. Don't know if it will work without a Garmin GPS. Give it a try.

You might want to look in a more Mac-centric place: versiontracker.com is where I'd start.

Google maps web site, also download google earth (free) it gives a 3d fly over. If looking more for turn by turn to plot your trip then google maps is pretty acurate. For a gps in your rv garmin hands down. Trust me my magellan is lucky i haven't thrown it out the window. Never heard anything good about tom tom. ( i drive for a living therefor live and die by a gps)
Also check the app store, garmin makes apps for the ipad and phone, not sure about an app for laptop or desktop. Mapquest great if you use thier fuel calculator it will plot your fuel stops for you optimizing your range and budget. It may suggest you fill up when you have half a tank but it knows where the best prices are.

Sadly, I don't think there is a good replacement for S&T for the Mac...at least I haven't found one. I guess it depends how you want to use it. I find that my standalone GPS (Magellan at the moment) is fine for use in the car or on short trips but not good for trip planning on longer trips. So I run S&T and VMSpc (also Windows only) in the MH on a cheap PC Netbook and use the Magellan in the car (as a dedicated Mac guy, I'm so ashamed).
Another possible option is to run Windows on the Mac and continue to use S&T. I haven't tried this, but I'm assuming the GPS function would continue to work in this scenario. Others may have tried this and can offer some insight.

I'm a died in the wool Mac guy, but I use Delorme's Street Atlas while running Windows with VM Fusion. It works fine and is compatible with Delorme's Earthmate a small GPS. I would assume you could do the same thing with S&T.

Thanks very much folks. I really used S&T for pre planning and fine tune with Last Exit. Once on the trip we use our GPS. Last big trip I used google earth to run some of the legs to see terrain and grade. But the basic laying out of the trip, SD to Beaver UT, Beaver to Idaho Falls, find closest Wally World to campground...works most efficiently on the S&T. Maybe I'm going to have to get a cheapy PC laptop. damn

Mike, there used to be a Mac specific program called RouteBuddy a few years back. I think the software has changed quite a bit since then. Search for it, read about it, let us know if it can serve the purpose.
